Since starting his head coaching career going 10-25 at Ole Miss, Coach O is 44-11 as a head coach, interim or otherwise. Since going 3-21 in conference at Ole Miss, he is 29-8 in conference games.

I guess this answers the question of whether a coach can learn and get better.

questions to ask...

Is Coach O just a better coach now?

Or is LSU that place and is Ole Miss just Ole Piss?

Probably a combination thereof.

Never thought I'd be thankful for a Troy loss.

If LSU wins the national championship Ed Orgeron will have the same first 49 game record as Les Miles at LSU.

40-9

Ed Orgeron and Les Miles will be tied for the best 50 game start in LSU history at 41-9 if LSU wins their next three games through UT San Antonio next season.

Ed Orgeron will have a better first 53 game start than Les Miles (best 53 game start in LSU history) if LSU starts better than 1-2 in 2020. Which they will.

Since being name permanent head coach:

Lost to Bama (#1) in 2017 and defeated Auburn (#10) the same year. (1-1)

Beat Miami (FL) (#8), Auburn (#7), UGA (#2) and UCF (#7) in 2018. Lost to Bama (#1) the same year. (4-1, 5-2 overall)

Beat Texas (#9), Florida (#7), Auburn (#9), Bama (#3), UGA (#3) in 2019 (5-0, 10-2 overall as permanent head coach).

Going back to the interim tag, but only at LSU, he lost to Bama (#1) in 2016, making his full LSU tenure (interim and perm.) 10-3 against Top 10 opposition.

Is there any other precedent for that sort of drastic turnaround in the college coaching ranks?
