I don't really see the whole "climate change" excuse being legit. I don't think it would take more than a couple of weeks to get used to it. But at the same time when I went to LSU camp my junior and senior year's the humidity killed me.

Oh and I don't know if you've noticed, but Beckwith is pretty freaking good.

Has had a history of concussions both in high school and had one in fall camp. Precautionary, lsu didn't want him to get another one just playing special teams and thought it would be best to rest him and not take chance of hurting the kid.

Nope...

Now it doesn't matter how much you play. You get in the game, you can't be redshirt, and it doesn't matter if it's an OOC game anymore.

The only way to be redshirted if you played is if you get an injury redshirt and there is a rule with how many games you can play in order to receive an injury redshirt. Not sure the exact number, but it's like if you played in more than 6 games, you cant receive a redshirt, or something along those lines.

WTF are you talking about? Do some research before you decide to be a douche

quote:

Each student-athlete is eligible for four years of competition in each of their chosen sports. If a qualified incoming student-athlete is "redshirted" his or her freshman year (i.e., practices but does not compete), four full years of eligibility still remain. An extra year of eligibility can also be granted via a "hardship waiver" if a student-athlete suffers an incapacitating injury or illness in the course of a season. The injury must occur during the first half of the season and the student-athlete, in Divisions I and II, must not have participated in more than two contests or 20% of the school's completed contests, whichever is greater. In Division III, the threshhold is three contests or 33% of completed contests, whichever is greater.

Any competition, regardless of time, during a season counts as one of your seasons of competition in that sport. It does not matter how long you were involved in a particularcompetition (for example, one play in a football game, one point in a volleyball match); you will be charged with one season of competition
.

Depends on when he got it... if he got it in camp, like someone said, and then played in the season weeks after, I doubt he will be able to receive a medical redshirt.

I mean you can't left him play in 2 games, then say oh well he had a concussion a few weeks before the season started so he's gonna be medically redshirted, even though he still played after he got if. Think about it... You can't say he was hurt and should be medically redshirted for something that happened in fall camp and he still played in the regular season. Doubt the NCAA grants him the medical RS for that.

Agreed. Hopefully the heir to MLB after next year plays enough so there isn't a steep drop off in production at that position.

Who would you have him play over? For now, he is quality depth.

People get way to caught up in the RS thing. If they are really good then we should play whenever they are ready.

RS seems to be important when players need to physically improve to compete at next level (why typically even stud OL/DL guys need a yr just to add the required bulk to play at the next level).

If they are really good, we will NOT have them in the program for 5 yrs. Hell we should be happy getting people to stay for 4.
