I also think that unless you went to Harvard or MIT where you went to college doesn't matter all that much. Name recognition might help a little bit but after your first job in most fields nobody cares.

This is true, but the LSU graduate right out of college is getting hired over the ULL graduate in the same field every single time.

Proof that ranking are bogus—when was the last time the top 10 schools were replaced by other schools outside the top 10? The lists are essentially copied from year to year.
