Does he ever come back and watch a game?

He was at the LSU-Florida game 3 years ago (Ben Simmons year) sitting with Dale. They introduced them together as a test. The applause was respectful, but not overwhelming.

Honest question—did they introduce him by Chris Jackson or by his Muslim name? (I would just guess that some folks would not know him by the latter, and have less reason to heartily applaude.)

It would be rude to address him now by his Chris Jackson. Much like no one says Lew Alcindor or Cassius Clay, the converted find it disrespectful to not acknowledge them by their religious name.

That said, Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf was definitely a top 3 LSU great, but leaving after only his sophomore year has more to do with him not having a statue rather than the not having graduated. Kid would have been worshipped like an old battleship if he stayed his junior season. His stats were incredible and the fact he played most games under heavy medication to control his Tourette's made his accomplishments that much more amazing.

Yes, Yes, Yes

I live in Abu Dhabi. Him being Muslim has nothing to do with who he was and what he did at LSU and in the country for a point guard in Div 1. He was the best I ever saw live.

Dan Borne’ introduces him by giving his credentials and letting his voice build up and then said,” sitting with his Coach Dale Brown, let’s give a warm welcome back to Mahmoud Abdul Rauf!”
