I watched chris in hs as a running back for walker hs. He was awesome. That being said,he sucks as a db. If you watch th game again it seems like every big play was made on his side because he was blocked off. he has to learn how to roll off of these blocks.Lsu has to have someone that can get the job done.

He is a Sr, so you know what that means.
I would love to know Chavis and Cooper's real preferences to start at the DB positions.
I find it very hard to believe that they have free reign and that Mile's perference to loyal upper classmen does not have something to do with their blindness of Hawkins big weaknesses.
You are stupid. If this was true, Jai and Hawkins would be starting and Peterson would be coming off the bench. STFU.

Hawkins still lines up 10 yards from receiver, what he started doing towards the end of last year has carried over. It wouldn't be so bad if he covered the guy, but he still gets burned. Cooper has got to break him out of that.

Our reality I feel is we have not had the development in our young players to over take a CH and Jai, I am a Jai fan but come on, how was he rated so high. After this after seeing how 'loaded' we are , what to doubt our stupid ratings or the coaches. Do our coaches do less with more or is Chad Jones the most over hyped dude in the NCAA

Hawkins also got pushed around and allowed big runs on the outside. He got man handled on passing and running plays.
Surely we've got someone else on the depth chart that can do better than that. If not, he'll be a liability all season.

I think Brooks is the most viable option for us at this point. He is strong enough to be a safety, which also shows he is aggressive enough to fight of block and be good in run support. I dont know about pass coverage. I know his very athletic so i assume he can cover. He would be my pick if I had any sayso.

Seriously, why is everyone so down on Jai? Other than the long pass, he seemed solid to me. Even on that play, he had great coverage but couldn't make the play on the ball, and the Wash receiver just made a great catch.
He was much more solid in run support than Hawkins, as always.
I just don't know if I missed something. Was it just the 1 pass that everyone is reacting to?

That's true. He was in great position. The receiver was Colorado high player of the year in high school, so its not like he was a scrub or walk on

The only bad play JAI had was that pass play. It was not really bad. Just made a great pass and catch.

remember ESPN doing a segment on how he "coached up the players" just before the 2003 game against UO(OU). He was showing them how to punch their way out of it and get the WR off balance, then roll off the block.
My last memory of saban was his defensive backfield giving up a hail mary to IOWA in the capitol city bowl and him throwing his player under the bus in the press room. F*&k nick saban.
