Baseball is a huge game of confidence, so yes...it matters. If he's 3 for 3 at that point, It looks slightly better.

Decisions in baseball are always being made on how a player is doing in that game. If a hitter is 0 for 3 or 0 for 4 they get pinch hit for all the time. If a pitcher has had problems throwing strikes in an inning they get yanked. Making those type of in game adjustments is the difference between winning and losing most of the time.
