Ann Arbor is closer to his home town than Baton Rouge is.

You are 100% correct CountryVolFan. I know for a fact Chavis is not retiring for at least 7 years (so recruits do not worry). And by the way, he recruits very hard and very well and has never said he does not want to be a head coach. He said he did not want to be in a program not committed to winning. (big difference)

Michigan is well known for promoting diversification and takes steps to achieve it. So, I don't really see your point.
Chavis and Cam are under contract with LSU for 2015....
The Lumbee/Cherokee Chief!
I just can't see him at UM.
LSU is still far away from Dillon, SC, but it ain't Michigan
UTenn
Clemson
USC - Columbia

Thanks Einstein.
Look clooooseeeeer.
LSU is still FAR away from Dillon, SC. But it ain't Michigan means that both are far away, but one matches SC a lot better than Michigan.
It was a simple case of you making things way more complex.
STPN, your idea of the state of Michigan being a harbinger for diversification means you don't read much.

Do you think Miles was aware of an upcoming Michigan opening in January of 201

Miles isn't going , LSU has put over 20 guys in the NFL in last 3 yrs and couldn't even win the SEC WEST. He want have near that talent in the Surrounding area at Michigan to chose from and FRANKLY he's not a good enough Coach to take the chance He'll stay at the place that has so Much talent that he can stay Mediocre. SIMPLY PUT He's not a very good coach. HIS COACHING STAFF is good enough to win a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, BUT he will not stay out of their way

I'm pretty sure if Miles leaves, we lose Cam, Chavis and the possibility of Wilson. Doesn't matter to where, but they won't be here. So we are looking at replacing three big players, plus what about these position coaches? I really don't want to frick up this situation right now.
We are in a very good situation right now in recruiting, players on the team (most are young), and stable staff. I would not like that to change until AT LEAST after 2017. I would prefer to change staff gradually.
We are in a 2-3 year sweet spot right now and a lot of morons can't see that.
ETA: However if we do get Cam as HC, I would be ok with that.

If either agree to a contract for anyone else the most LSU would be out would be the difference between the 2 contracts.
I don't think so. that contract works both ways. unless LSU lets them out of the contract they will owe LSU damages for breaking said contract.
