stopped reading there.....will he get hurt? possibly. Saying there is a likelihood of him getting hurt is ridiculous and just an attempt to flame...a poor one at that.

You may not like it, but it's a fact that over the course of any given season it is extremely likely that the backup QB will have to play some crucial snaps. As someone pointed out, LSU QBs missed at least one start with injury in 01, 02, 05, 07, 08, and 09. And in 00, 04, and 10 we played quarterback musical chairs. Basically the only year this past decade a starting QB has gone wire to wire was 2003 (edit: and 06). Maybe Lee bucks that trend but I wouldn't put money on it.

I'm not sure how you'd quantify it in terms of probable versus possible, but we haven't had a QB go through a season unscathed since 2006 and he was a 6'6'' 270 lbs monster.

I'd rather have JJ back up Mett next year. Mett backup Lee this year. Rivers is more unproven than all three.

sorry a unproven mett is better than i can only throw for 4 tds all year and i can barely throw for over 100 a game.

And even being an inept QB I still led LSU to an 11 win season last year, which could have easily been 12 wins if the defense didn't give up 464 yards and 31 points to Arkansas.

JJ redshirts, Mett beats him out in spring, JJ transfers, Randall backs Mett in '12. everybody's happy.

I definitely want him back on the team for a couple of reasons, but:
- I don't want him to displace JL from starting.
- It never hurts to have options.
- At some point we may need him as a back up.
- I don't want him taking a red shirt!

Is it too late to redshirt ZM?

If JJ comes back, why not redshirt ZM if it's not too late and then we'll have him 3 years as starter...

Yes, but Mettenberger already burned his redshirt at UGA anyway so it's a moot point.

Would be nice to have an experienced senior coming off the bench instead of an unproven Mett.

having JJ or not and not be a distraction would depend a lot on JJs attitude.... if he comes in with swagger and acting like he is THE QB, it will be a distraction.

I think part of JLs success is that the kid has character and when he realized that he was IT, he
has worked even harder.

BTW, I expect ZM to get playing time vs KY....I expect/hope for us to be comfortably ahead so he can get some experience.

My opinion is no less valuable than yours so I guess that means your anal analogy is worth the same as mine. The difference is I'm not acting like an Intenet Tough Guy to make my point.

I'd rather have a 2600+ JUCO QB than a 1400 yard SEC QB. See Auburn 2010 if you don't know why I say this.

do you seriously think Miles and the other coaches will allow this? If he's let back on the team, it will be under certain conditions. Not upsetting the chemistry will be #1 on the list.

JJ needs to work his way back up--if he returns, he should be 3rd string. But it is doubtful he'll return--I expect him to transfer, as has been mentioned in other threads.

Is Mett eligible for a medical redshirt, if JJ comes back and Mett is injured. ;) ;)
