The only thing he was guaranteed was the bonsus. Once your in minor legue ball you only make about $1,300 a month and ride a bus and sleep in motel 6's. You have about a 3% chance of making the big time.

he probably wanted to come to college and possibly raise that.. you can't predict the future.

He could have raised that and it not have been a gamble. All he had to do was stay here and play one more year of football and relief pitcher and he ups his stock in both leagues.
He's just plain dumb for leaving and obviously was getting horrible advise.

True, but it is so much easier to make it in football as others have said. Hell, he's already in the NFL!

thers pros and cons to each. With football you can make the big money right away but theres non guaranteed contracts and the career of a football player is on average much shorter than that of a baseball player. Baseball comes with the less glamorous life of spending time in the minor leagues but if and when you make it the the big leagues the careers can be much longer and less prone to injury.
