"The lines were stunningly lousy last year headlined by a disaster of an offensive front. The offense finished last in the league, the defense wasn’t exactly clutch, and there were way too many close calls against teams like Louisiana Tech and Mississippi State. But Miles and LSU deserve credit for beating teams like Auburn, Georgia, and Georgia Tech over the last two seasons, while pushing national title-level Florida and Alabama teams in games that could’ve gone either way. There might not need to be a total overhaul to push LSU up to the rarefied air "

This was the best part of the article. LSU was in every game that they lost last year. To the extent that LSU needs a "fix", tweaks will do the trick. Ask Nebraska how a needless complete overhaul can change your program (when they hired Pellini's predecessor).

But it's a tough line to walk. On the one hand I want that same ability to enjoy each win on it's own merits (like I was able to do in the 70's, 80's and 90's), while still having expectations of something much greater.
I completely agree. Having high expectations and enjoying each win are not mutually exclusive. I actively enjoy looking at our strengths and weaknesses to see what we need to do to win next week. But I think analysis overcomes enjoyment when A) you can't enjoy the win and B) your analysis is just contemplating how we're gonna lose.

There is no game that is unwinnable. None. Where I part company with certain people (and I refuse to use those dumbass labels) is when we look at the weaknesses and conclude we cannot win. LSU played the best teams in the country closely last season. They came up short, but there were things that we could have done to change the outcome. I think the offensive line desperately needs to improve. I think we need to get more push on the defensive line. I think we need to remember we have a tight end who can catch the ball. I think we need to change the attitude of the offense to stop worrying about what could go wrong and start focusing on what can go right. But just because I have criticisms does not mean I do not believe we cannot improve these weaknesses (or even win in spite of them.... no team is perfect)

If this is true (which it may not be), then Miles has let the program slip. If we don't win the West or at least make the BCS this year, I hope he's fired before he can do more damage. Flame away.

What shape were the Ole Miss, Bama, and Florida programs generally in when we were running the table on em?

Choctaw, you can't even enjoy a good comment any more, you need to take a break. All you are doing is setting it up for further negative comments. Was that really necessary?

Maybe not but he's right

For becoming the most negative person on the board? To each his own, but Choctaw basically started the ball rolling. Pretty much all he does not is ...well, what you see here. He can't appreciate the positive, just sees the negative.

Teen tennis star has breast reduction surgery in bid to boost her game

Comments (97) Add to My Stories Having a large chest guarantees attention, but Romanian tennis hopeful Simona Halep couldn't get rid of hers soon enough.

The 18-year-old, who was a junior champion at the French Open in 2008, had a growing male fan base thanks to her 34DD breasts.
But the extra weight on her chest was uncomfortable and caused severe back pain, which affected her performance on the court.
In a bid to boost her game, she spent last summer recovering from breast reduction surgery, which took her cup size down to a more modest 34C.

She doesn't look too happy with the results - I can't say I am either.

Precisely! And that's why you play the game. Look at Bama'a run last year. They had some lucky breaks during the season to keep the ball rolling. Look at Michigan when they lost to Appy State...they never recovered the rest of the season.

One impressively strong team CAN be beaten on any given Saturday by any other team. A few bounces one way or the other or an injury can determine the outcome of those games.

When you come up short...you pick yourself up off the ground, dust off and go at them again.

I started a thread a while back about all the negativity around here and was lambasted for it. It seems like it doesn't matter how good LSU is....it's not going to change their outlook or perception of the team. Hell, we could have Meyer here and people would be calling for his head in the middle of a down year.

No. The difference between the article and the "chicken littles" is the difference between, "people are watching for clouds in Baton Rouge," and "the sky is falling in Baton Rouge!"

I am not a chicken little then....the sky is definitely cloudy and stormy though. It hasn't fallen yet but thunderbolts are shooting out of the sky. I hope the best for the team but unless Miles gets his head out of his arse I have low expectations.

I'm the most positive person here. Almost every post i make regarding LSU is positive. However, when it comes to rantards....that's a different story.

btw...i think you're the only person on here that can honestly call himself a "realist". You seem to stay in the middle pretty well.

The team is extremely talented but lacks some element of leadership and has little confidence. These things can change over the course of a season. I am gonna take the talent with a chance of the others developing. Without talent, all the leadership and expert coaching can only go so far.

There are reasons to be positive despite the current shortcomings.

And that is the difference. When they proclaim that Miles will not "get his head out of his arse", that is what pushes them into the realm of "chicken littles."

Everyone (or most everyone) knows the sky could fall. What is important is recognizing (and, hopefully, enjoying) the fact that sky could also not fall.

Yeah, Coctaw, you just have seem obsessed with the negatiger stuff. Season is about two months away, wins will take care of all the speculation...

I think the truly negative fans would disappear if they were not given so much attention.

Probably too much. I have a flaw of trying to see both sides of an issue, and not how I really feel about it at times....but overall.

they had the opportunity to improve over 13 games last year and got arguably worse in some areas.

Clearly you were deaf to the din of the offseason following 2007, when the calls for "Miles to Michigan" and bitching about everything from the defense to the time management to the recruiting were loud, clear and frequent in the wake of winning THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!
