re: CBS "experts" predictions for the season

This is so stupid. LSU at 14 is more overrated than Auburn 6 and Bama at 3????
Is Muschamp a magic bullet? Is Duke going to stay out of trouble? Where the hell is Auburn's pass rush? Lawson had 4 sacks as a freshman, had a season ending injury, and is supposed to be a pass rush king this year? Does Auburn even have a secondary that could stop anybody? Their DL was a joke last year, but because of Muschamp it gets automatically better? How? At least LSU can point to Ed O who is one of, if not THE best DL coach in the country. Jeremy Johnson played against a bad Arkansas secondary game one at home in the first half, how does that make him a heisman contender? Who is their legit #2 at wideout? How will Malzahn's offense fair without the dynamic running of Marshall? Johnson is no Cam Newton.
Bama loses nearly their entire passing game plus a veteran QB, we saw what that did to LSU last year. Don't give me the excuse of Bama will be fine because they just reload. Amari Cooper was Biletnikoff. Sims broke the Alabama passing record. They lost their top 3 WRs and bring back 2 on OL.
Oh yeah Dak alone makes MSU underrated. Tell that to TAMU who went 8-4 with Johnny Manziel, Mike Evans, and a loaded OL coming back. If MSU's depth defensive guys were worse than their starters last year, and they lose a DC, how does that make them better? How does only bringing back 2 OL make them better? How does bringing back 7 starters make them "underrated". Didn't Harris shred their "backups"?
Everybody loves to talk about the possibility of LSU being 1-2 to start the year, but Auburn could end up 2-2 and even 1-3 starting the year as well as MSU being 2-3. Did MSU not beat Auburn by 15 last year?
Pass rush. not worrying about it. Ed O and Steele looking for more pressure and that is way more than Chavis did with our front 7. QB, Harris has the tools, the coaching, the OL, WRs, RBs, and 71 plays of experience (45 passes 26 carries). If he can't do it, then it can't be done. With all the things I see us implementing and working on with him (3-5 wide shotgun, jet sweep fakes to pass, read option fakes to pass, HB screens, swing passes, etc), to get him confident in the short passing game, plus his cannon on deep throws to 4.4 speedsters, he should be more than just average this year. He should be outstanding!
Everybody is predicting everybody else to improve, but LSU to stay the same, do people not understand how stupid that sounds?
Rude awakening people, rude awakening.

All Sims had to do was throw it to Cooper.
yep Bama lost alot of skill players last year. Their strength will be their font 7 on defense. But Bama has struggled defending the pass in the last few years, it's why there were embarrassed in their bowl games the last two years against good passing offenses in Oklahoma and Ohio State.
Bama is highly rated because of talent, but I fully suspect they will struggle on offense this year.

I don't think people realize that the west is wide open this year. LSU very well could win the west, they could also end up 7th. Personally I don't think either happens but this conference is wide open.
Auburn was 8-4 last year, and will they have any defense?
Alabama lost everything on offesne
Arkansas is still rebuilding
MSU lost everyone but dak
Ole Miss lost their QB and they still didn't have a great year last year.
Texas A&M their defense was horrendous last year, even a great defensive coordinator doesn't turn things around that quick.
LSU has unproven QB play, and a questionable front 7.
Every team in the west has significant problems.

But they have GUS and can and will score points...........
Auburn was literally a broken ankle at the half yard line from being 7-5 with a loaded OL, a returning senior QB tailor made for the offense, 2 returning RBs, their top 7 returning WRs, top returning TE, and the addition of top JUCO WR Duke Williams who was pretty much everything he was hyped to be.
I saw what Cam can do with real talent once before, I'll bank on him doing it again this year.

I really hope to email these "experts" at the end of the season and rub it in on how stupid they look. I have faith, I think we'll have a pretty damn good, if not amazing year. At this point what else can we do?

LSU has unproven QB play
I don't think that is quite true. The QB play is very proven. Unfortunately, it is proven to not be very damn good.
We saw both QB's last year as did the prognosticators, and they are both back. That is why they are not picking LSU to win the SEC much less the national championship, like I have sees from LSU fans recently.
The same QB's as last year and a new defensive coordinator and LSU is supposed to be a whole lot better??
If another SEC team had bad QB play last year and returned the same QB's and lost their defensive coordinator and hired one that isn't that highly thought of. LSU fans would be freaking out if that team was picked to finish ahead of the Tigers.

They are right. I see another 8-5 maybe 7-6 season. QB and Dline issues ARE REAL! You don't win games with poor QB and Dline play

Preseason predictions mean very little and always have and always will. I'll attempt to explain the reasoning behind 3 SEC teams which are considered up and comers and have different predictions than the same thing that happened last year more or less. Remember these "experts" are trying to evaluate every team, not just one conference.
Auburn is the yo-yo team in the SEC. Gus is an offensive "genius". Johnson like Coker last year is in the Heisman discussion despite their lack of actually playing much football. Boom is a defensive "genius". They have recruited fairly well. So what is not to like about Auburn?
Hogs came on strong at the end of the year and lost multiple close games. This is Bert's 3rd year and he did fairly well at Wisky What is not to like at Pigs?
Tennessee, better recruiting and a QB that looked good down the stretch albeit against lesser teams, plus in the East. What is not to like about the Vols.
I think that is about as far as the CBS experts go on most teams
Now LSU, no proven QB. Rare the ranter that doesn't agree. Most by far are pulling for Harris and a few are hoping Jennings has improved as well. All these guys probably watched a few LSU games last year and noted the lack of passing attempts between the hash marks. I know the DCs did against LSU and the fact WRs weren't getting off press coverage on the outside. 12 total sacks against Division 1 competition and losing both starting DEs. They see Steele as a downgrade.
Having said that, a great deal can change and often occurs year to year. I'll say I'm optimistic about Harris and perhaps because if he isn't the answer, LSU probably doesn't have one. However I'd be ecstatic if AJ had a good year as well. Very worried about depth in the front 7 as well.
All I'm basically saying is from the limited "close" look these CBS guys are giving LSU, one can understand their reasoning.

Auburn went 8-4 last year, is breaking in a new starting QB, and is almost unanimously picked to win the division.
It's asinine.
And they needed a flukey "break" to beat Ole Miss, too.

very true, I mean who really believes that players, especially QB's, actually improve after a year or two in a program...

Bama at 3 is an absolute joke.

as much as i want to potentially go to BD and beat them when they are undefeated, i want Wisconsin to beat them to open the season so badly.
it'll make their heads explode if their savior saban loses that game right off the bat.

Yeah, because teams get better quarterback play in college by signing free agents, right?

I'd much rather a loss in Week 3 v. Ole Miss, Week 5 @ Georgia, or Week 8 v. Tennessee... aka games that actually matter.

frick the Aggies and Pigs, my two favorite teams are LSU and whoever is playing Bama!
That has led to many disappointing seasons in recent years.
