I would appreciate your perspective.

I'll read your response. I'm interested in your perspective.

So we shouldn't be happy with winning? Look man I get it, I would love for us to be better on offense too...but I also know that being boring can be both effective and consistent.

What we have on offense is a joke. LSU can recruit the shite out of the state and nation and there is absolutely no excuse to be that shitty on offense for so many consecutive years.
Go ahead and settle for second place (or third or fourth, etc)

Boring is fine......when it produces results.

Depends on what you are content with.
It isn't effective right now.

Actually 2011 wasn't a fluke. I disagree with you there. That team was special like Miles said with Honey Badge and all. They took on a really tough schedule and trampled everyone except Bama. But the offense really clicked last season except for Bama once again. The NC game I truly did not expect nor did anyone else, I really expected them to come out and take it to Alabama. But I saw a team totally unprepared to play and almost lifeless and that falls clearly on Miles and staffs shoulders!

I think the philosophy is there. I want to be a pro style offense headlining the run and establishing a dominate line of scrimmage. However, you don't have to be so simple within that philosophy. You can have more sophisticated routes and progressions. The run game is effective so long as it isn't predictable. I just think there is a significant failure at LSU to develop our players and drill the execution of an effective offense. They are also not put into a position to succeed. 5 years of this product should tell you all you need to know.
Also, there is nothing wrong with winning consistently, of course. It's just extremely frustrating that there is only one reason we lose and haven't been a consistent DOMINATE team. It's holding us back. As cauble stated, the defense is holding up their end of the bargain.

It actually wasn't statistically that great. the only way it was better than 2012 was scoring. The defense and special teams made 2011 special.
Offensive ranking wasn't much different.

True. I was just excited to see scoring and blowouts finally, wasn't paying attention to stats.

It was the most dominating LSU team I can remember. One helluva fun year. The average offense didn't matter because that much because the team had great field position so often and the defense and ST's scored a lot.

What cracks me up is the people who are going to look at UF in the Sugar Bowl and say "oh we're fine".
"You're eating shite too? OK. It's not so bad then."

Ok then here goes.
First, choosing an offensive philosphy as a HC. Take stock of what you have and what you can be. If you are in a place like Oregon or Arkansas where it will be hard for you to get elite recruiting classes, choose an offense that gives you a chance to level the playing field.
However, if you are at a place that you can recruit elite talent, a run first offense is a great choice. Why? First, you will always be able to have a great defense with great athletes and if you can shorten the game with a running game....you will likely be in every game you play.
Next, good offense is VERY VERY dependent on your QB. This point cannot be emphasized too much. Look no further than tonights Sugar Bowl for proof. Problem is, really good QB's are few and far between and evaluating them is very hard. We, and a lot of other coaches, wanted Mett more than Bridgewater...it ain't over yet...but Teddy sure looks like a great college QB.
The great thing about having a boring run based offense, is that even when you have crappy QB play...you can still be competitive if your defense is helped out by a running game and great special teams.
All this is to say, that I think with better QB play over the last few years, we wouldn't be having all this panic about the OC and our offense.
Case in point, we went 11-2 and 13-1 the last two years with JARRETT LEE and JORDAN JEFFERSON as our QB's!!!!! Are you kidding me? Who gets credit for that my friends? I'll tell you who gets credit...the same guy you are blaming for the lack of EXECUTION!!
I say CLM should be lauded for the job he has done having ANY semblance of offensive execution with such poor QB's.
I did think things would improve this year with Mett being an upgrade in talent...but many factors conspired to make this a uniquely unfortunate year. I won't bother reciting the litany of injuries and stuff...but man...you gotta admit...we were THIS CLOSE to having a championship year despite all that.
Yeah you can predict that all the bad stuff is gonna continue, all the bad execution portends an awful future...but I just don't see it. On the contrary, I think some of our bad fortune will reverse itself and LSU and CLM will rise to even GREATER heights!
Sorry for rambling a bit...but I am a patient and realistic optimist when it comes to CLM and LSU football.

Yep. That shite storm we saw playing in the Sugar, LSU couldn't get in the end zone against that team

Dude, He is the main problem with the QB's. Do you think he just has shitty judgement in QB talent?
