LSU was routinely ranked between 55-75 in defensive efficiency this season. Not horrible, but certainly not good relative to the top teams in the country. You saw it on full display vs. MSU where the Spartans sliced LSU up and got virtually anything they wanted.
Many guys just freelanced looking for steals and were overaggesive in defending shots. Even the slightest head fake on the perimeter would get LSU’s defenders in the air. They put forcing TO’s/trying to deflect shots above simply forcing contested shots. LSU was one of the better teams in the county in forcing TO’s, yet we’re FAR less efficient overall than the other top teams in the nation.
LSU is going to allow more ppg than most simply because of their pace of play, but this wasn’t a good defensive team. At best, they were an inconsistent defensive who had stretches of good defensive play in games, but never a full 40 minutes worth. It’s why even though they won a lot of games seemingly all of them were very close.
Wade seeming placed an emphasis on defense from day 1, but offense has actually been LSU’s calling card in the first two year.

Can guys who don't get picked in draft come back for another year?
