Dear Tiger Band and Friends:
Two years ago at this time, the state legislature earmarked $5 million dollars to be given for a new Band Hall project if LSU matched the offer with an additional $5 million by August 2009. We met the match and a plans for a $10 million dollar building were drawn. The building will be built next to our Tiger Band practice field, and construction bids go out this fall. While we are so very pleased with the initial progress of the project, the building that will go out for bid has no offices, library or work areas. We will continue this next year to raise funds for the Administrative Suite, the final part of our Band Hall project. While we do not have exact figures, we believe we still need to raise $4-$6 million dollars. There is an artist rendering of what it may look like on our web site. The building may look entirely different in the end!
While we have many friends who have stepped forward these last two years to help us in our efforts, we want to again publicly recognize (former Tiger Band alumna) Claudia Henagan Adley and her husband, Louisiana Senator Robert Adley (aunt and uncle of Lee and Lance Henagan, former Tiger Band trombonists). Both were instrumental in the legislature’s initial $5 million dollar match proposal. We also want to thank our administration at LSU, the LSU Board of Supervisors, and the LSU Athletic Department for their continued support. If you’ve ever been in our present Band Hall, then you understand the need for a new facility!
