Can someone explain the advancing rule in basketball after a timeout?

Like, obviously I love it when it benefits my team but,
How does it make sense to get to be on your offensive side of the court with no time lost just because you used a timeout? Doesn’t make sense. Huge game changer especially with limited time left

The NBA has been doing it for years. The women’s game added it when they switched to 4 quarters.
It’s for the entertainment in the last minute.

It’s just one of the different rules that they have in WBB

It’s such a bullshite artificial rule

It's to give a chance for something more interesting than 60-70 ft heaves to happen.

Let’s revisit this when LSU benefits from it.

I agree, but it’s completely unearned lol. Guess you should save a few TOS for the end in a close game for that purpose alone

It's an old rule in the NBA. Been around as long as I remember but I never understood the logic. I think it is purely to create more buzzer-beater situations. Artificially, as you stated.

I still don't like it. IMO it cheapens the game.
