If mett does two things, our offense will be nasty:
A.) learn how to pick up a corner blitz
B.) learn how to run some play action packages.

He made good progress over his first year so I expect him to continue to progress and be a good SEC QB next season. Hopefully with Leslie coming in and I would like to see more of Wright and Boone and, less of OBJ, also would help him out. Alot is going to depend on Vadel Alexander progressing also and Hawkins being legit. The power running game of Copeland leading HIll/Blue are another big plus for him. Add in a true pass catching threat at TE in Dickson/Smith should be a big plus.

now Les and Company just need to figure out how to to do something with all that. Even with Metts limitations and the other holes/question marks in our offense talent, I think the La Tech staff could make something work with this personnel.

Let's be honest - Mett is ok but he's not an elite QB that we can rely on to carry us. Sure, the OL and WR have issues, and the coaching is atrocious, but Mett's just average. He may progress a bit next year but he's not going to be a top QB in the SEC, must less in the entire nation. He simply doesn't have the "it" factor.

We're going to need him to, if we're going to be competitive in the west.

Mett has a terrific NFL caliber arm. He needs to build on that important foundation though to excel next year and position him well for the NFL draft...
1) accuracy on roll outs when he is on the move
2) getting more air under the long ball...when he missed, he was always long.
3) pocket presence when compressing to check down or throw it away vs taking sacks. He is too slow footed to scramble, and that's God given that he can't fix.

Don't worry. There will soon be threads about his potential for a Heisman run next season. Short memory spans on this board.

I feel the same way. Some of those who are less optimistic than Mettenberger act as if he showed no improvement over the course of the year.
