I opened the Reveille today and read about soccer losing, mens tennis losing again, womens tennis losing again, womens basketball losing again, mens basketball losing again and softball losing several times this weekend. The only team that won this weekend was baseball.

alright, i was totally unaware alleva was expected to coach and play every sport at lsu, as well as be the athletic director. btw, the softball team is ranked 16th in the country, and had a player throw a perfect game in the last week. who cares about soccer and tennis? those sports have never and will never be a profit making sport at lsu.

Amen! And what a stupid thing to say publicly.
I'm afraid this guy is in way over his head.

well if lsu turned a 21% profit last year with awful attendance, i have a hard time believing that number has fallen into the red. i have yet to see someone post some actual figures to prove that is true, unless that number includes the money spent on the new practice facility. if it is included, that number is very misleading

The Director of Athletics is in charge of the Athletic Department. His responsibility is all athletic programs. If the coaches aren't getting the job done, it is his responsibility to get someone in here who can. Whether you think the sports are meaningful or not, they are his job responsibility. We (LSU) are paying him a lot of money to do his job well. So far, he hasn't held up his end of the deal.

They also lost to a bunch of unranked teams and will surely not be ranked whenever the new polls are released. BTW, LSU used to have a top 5-10 softball program.

Give him a break Trent Johnson is on the Lou Tepper plan. In 5 years we will be competitive and all of the pieces of the puzzle will be in place for an NIT berth.

Once again, last year and this year are two different times....but it seems like you have a hard time grasping this concept.

in sports that don't turn a profit, the athletic director can't fire coaches before their contracts run out and be forced to pay their buyouts. in sports like these, you're usually stuck with coaches through the duration of their contract.

To answer your question: No.

We got some emails bitching about booing at football games, but that's about it.

Those are exhibition games fwiw, didn't know they played at all in the spring, but official college soccer season is very much in the fall. But yes, technically you were correct in that, that story could have been in today's paper

For the record we are still paying john brady. At least arkansas state is helping with that. There are plenty of people ready to write TJ a check and send him off. I doubt any school will come in and buy his contract to get him.

Can't imagine the people who buy airtime during the LSU basketball games/coaches show are very happy no one gives a rats behind about the crummy product, nor are the people who advertise to a bunch of empty seats during the game.

I never said I had any. But if you want to dispute the claim, showing last years numbers proves nothing for this year.

Perhaps the buffoon who brought him in should be the one run out of town.....by the way who has been Allevas most successful hire?

C'mon now. You guys are probably in your 30s if not late 20s. By now, you know people in high profile positions say one thing to the public which is politically correct (albeit dumb at times), but at the same time running their subordinates thru the ringer behind the scenes.

I would not be surprised that Joe and Trent are having some real heart to hearts as this season progresses...

...Just as I am sure he did with Les - before Les pulled off a miracle of a season to make him the hottest coach prospect ever in Ann Arbor. Which by then, he was kissing Les' feet begging for him to stay.
