IF Okie St. wins out
AND Arkansas puts up a modest fight but loses to LSU
AND Oregon wins out
AND LSU runs the table, and defeats Okie St in BCSNCG,
There's a chance that LSU would have defeated:
#2 OSU
#3 Bama
#4 Oregon
#5 Arkansas
all in the same year.
Has any team in CFB history ever done anything close to that?

That's impressive! But Arky is #6

You'd have to figure that UGA could be #6 by the time LSU plays them

LSU, Bama, and R-Kansas might actually be the 3 best teams in the country this year.

Unprecidented would be appropriate....

but let's make it happen then let the "best of all time? questions get bantied around in the off season.

Fact is -- most national media see us as good.... but not overwhelmingly so.

We win week in and week out... if we end up with 14-0 -- yes it will be VERY impressive.

the only stretch in your scenario is Ark @ #5... we beat them... they are not #5.... still an impressive string of victories for LSU though.

Arky squeaked out some wins. I'm not sold on them.

RE: tkr1407

Ark is #6 right now behind OU - assuming they lose to OSU, they could flip-flop.

Victories over teams that were ranked at some point in the season (assuming we win them all).

Oregon -- top 5 finish in all liklihood
MSU -- at one time in top 20
WVU -- at one time in top 15
AU --- at one time in top 25
Bama --- at one time ranked #1
....
If we win

Ark -- at one time in top 6
UGA -- will be ranked in top 10 going to SECCG if they win at UK and beat GT the last week.

and was UT ranked in the top 25 at one point too?

I don't think I left any off???

RE: LSU91MBA

I thought the same thing, but couldn't find a comprehensive statistic of any significance.
It would have been even better if UGA had beaten Boise St and WVU didn't fall asleep in the Big East.

If LSU wins out, LSU will be the first team in NCAA history to beat 9 ranked teams in one season:

3 Oregon
25 Mississippi State
16 West Virginia
17 Florida
19 Auburn
2 Alabama
8 Arkansas
10ish Georgia
2 Oklahoma State/Oklahoma/Alabama/Oregon

Well I know that tOSU in 2006 was the only team in history at the time to play the #2 team 3 times in the same year (Texas, Mich and Fla). Too bad we got curb stomped in the NCG.

Wait, didnt our 2007 championship team do this? As I recall even with the 2 losses our strength of schedule was so strong it allowed us to get back in it even after the loss late in the season to Arkansas. We played a ton of ranked teams.

In 2007, LSU played 8 ranked teams (the most ever for a BCS NC Game contender). LSU was 7-1 against ranked teams in 2007. Arkansas, who beat LSU, was not ranked.

God I still have nightmares about Darren McFadden. I think he would still run all over our defense today. He got robbed twice for Heisman.

Ahh yes, not UT --- -UF - Florida was a top 20 team for a short while this season before Bama and LSU.
