Mett was great last night, but the Oline sure stepped up and gave some fantastic pass protection as well. Just looked liked the whole offense was clicking last night, except of course for the delay of game after the TO. Even Todd and Brad were scratching their heads on that one.

Mettenburger's improvement was obvious. Even in busted plays he looked better prepared.

Killing the play when it was busted is what impressed me. He did that well 3 or 4 times. Normally, at least a pic or two would have resulted.

I noticed a huge difference with the play-calling and with Mett.

Did we pass with more confidence? Yes. Were our receivers more open than usual? Yes. Did we mix up more passes into the offense? Yes, because we had more confidence. And in a refreshing development we also seem to run passing plays that are aware of where the first down marker is.

Otherwise, I saw a lot more of the same old Les philosophy. Bunched in tight inside the 10 yard line, no misdirection running plays, no bubble screens, no tight end involvement.

There was a spell there in the second half where everybody was screaming same old, same old... I would have liked to see more diversity in the running game.

Overall, though, a positive performance.

That's not true at all.
TCU's DBs are pretty good and had good coverage most of the night (with some uncalled PIs).
Mett was very accurate.

Yalls offense was WAY less frustrating than it has been the past few years. It wasn't perfect, but it looked promising.

I made the comment that it is so much easier to watch. Has more of a flow to it than last year where there was a mix/match of failed running plays and sporadic passes.

Did anyone notice that Mett was throwing and completing passes against a 1st preseason All American db? This offense looks very promising, fine tune the run blocking and it will be a dominant offense.

Little misdirection, no involvement of TE's, nothing out of the backfield. Meh... Too early too tell.

You must have been watching a different game. The very first series that ended with a field goal, Mett threw into the end zone to Desean Smith, Freshman TE from Barbe. It was knocked away on a good defensive play. There was at least one more thrown his direction and a couple thrown to Dillon Gordon that he may or may not have caught, don't recall. The TEs were definitely involved.

Nothing out of the backfield? I remember two separate occasions where we tried something. Blue screwed up on one by getting too deep and Mett had to throw it away. The other one was similar but I don't recall the back.

The biggest deal should be made about the play calls being made to give Mett an opportunity to make those passes. That did not happen last year.

Elated with the play calling and execution. Nice not to be mired in a 1965 Big Ten game plan for a change.

Cam Cameron's influence was visible everywhere. Mett showed great pocket awareness and he made some incredible throws. LSU had two receivers go over a hundred yds against some talented DB's. Cam gained a lot of peoples respect last night including some of LSU's top recruits.

Offense looked better and I was happy with the ability to move the ball and sustain drives.

Now I want to see Lsu blow out our next two opponents with the same type of production. Don't want to have hose teams hanging around in the 3rd quarter.

Bingo!!

Is a sweep in the playbook or is it strictly run between the tackles?

That sideline throw to Beckham right at the end of the game was a thing of beauty, and his ability to convert on third and long was amazing. By the end of the game I was no long worried so much come third down, because I believed that Mett could convert no matter the distance. Haven't personally felt that kind of trust in our quarterbacks in quite a while.

Agree, last few years 3 and long was grab another beer time.
