Calling an audible to get to Phoenix

My wife and I love to take road trips and are headed to Phoenix. Went to the Walk Ons in Lubbock last night. Awoke to an incoming blizzard from direction of Albuquerque, where we were next headed. Calling an audible and heading south. Greaux Tigers!

I live in Tijeras canyon 3 miles east of Albuquerque, we are under a blizzard warning thru tomorrow morning, with 8-20 inches of additional snow forecast today in addition to a foot or so over the last 2 nights. East winds 50-60mph currently. I have 2-3 ft drifts around my house... don't come this way, I expect a large stretch of I40 to close today, maybe all the way to Texas line...head south to El Paso, I10 sholuld be a much better choice, and of course, that's the latitude of Phoenix....and like Coach O.....geaux tigers

Just saw weather radar, looks like it's snowing in Las Cruces El Paso area right now, might be smart to go that way but wait til tomorrow, should be outta there by tomorrow...
By the way, if anyone's curious, I'm a serious recreational skier and watch weather closely, especially looking for fresh powder. Too bad most of it's on roads today...

Yes Siree. We've done all routes through New Mexico. I like to go through Roswell and Pie Town, then Show Low, AZ and Payson, AZ, then on down to the paradise valley of the sun.

I wouldn't recommend that route today...I go that way, too, but go south, young man, south....but wait til tomorrow

OP here- made it to El Paso. Some squirrely weather out there. We are hunkering down for now and should be fine after weather is thru passing tomorrow. Thanks for all your input. Greaux Tigers!
