“ when Joe has a monster year”
We are supposed to have a much better rush game this year and if we do, I’m not sure we can look for a monster year from Joe passing. A better yr certainly.
Monster to me would be top 10 passing game. Love to see it, but I’m not gonna hold my breath.

That was about 3800 yards in 2018. I'd say Joe gets there or very close. Top-15 at the worst.

“Top- 15 at worst”
That would be an amazing jump form 60+ and require like 300 yds a game average.
I don’t expect that to happen especially if we have a much improved running back situation, but it would be a nice change from the last five years.

I'll say 3300-3500 yards which will be great, particularly if the running game improves

I see the rushing game and the passing game as helping each other. Ohio St had more rushing yards than LSU last season, and passed for 5100 yards. Bama had more rushing yards than LSU also, and passed for 4000+.
Clemson had 3723 yards rushing and 4185 passing
That's the nature of the Spread/RPO
[LSU had 2257 yards rushing in 2018]

No I wouldnt say any of that. I think Joe is a damn good qb, but Tua is absolutely elite

The only reason this thread has gone on so long is because of idiots who are incapable of acknowledging both of these facts at the same time. Joe is a good QB and a great team leader. He is also tough as nails. Tua is at a different level. That doesn't mean anything other than what it says. You can be a die hard LSU fan, love Joe Burrow, and also acknowledge that Tua is an outstanding QB.

Burrow was a pleasant surprise last year.
He will Make an even a bigger impact this year.
He will definitely exploit the RPO. Wasn’t real impressed with our running backs last year (more optimistic this year) and that should help also.

quote:Tua will do OK in '19 - he has too much talent all around him not to. But he won't match his '18 numbers. His OC is gone, and hid RPO guru is gone.

In their place is Sark... bringing back his 1990's passing offense. Good luck with that. they won't beat Clemson with that, and they might not beat LSU.
Posted on 5/20/19 at 1:00 pm to Buckeye Jeaux
Sark is probably a better OC than Lockhart who is going to bomb at Maryland.
They have enough talent to make most people look damn good.
Saying Sark has a 90s Offense basically ignores the fact that he ceases the QB coach or OC st USC from 2005-2008.

Sark has already dumped the Spread/RPO. And Locksley was a decent OC, but it was RPO guru Josh Gattis that put Tua's offense together last season - that's why Harbaugh gave Gattis (new Michigan OC) a blank check and promised he'd keep his hands off Gattis' Spread/RPO.
Bama still has lotsa big guns, but Tua won't do nearly as well in Sark's slow-developing pass scheme.
Gattis was "grip it and rip it". Sark is "read, read, read"

Since we are not in this same zip code as Clemson, Alabama, or Ohio State when it comes to the offense , I’m not really concerned about what they did or didn’t do.
I am more concerned that we are able to outdo the A&M’s, Mississippi State, Aubs. Miss. Ga, and (Florida) of the world at this time.
I’m thinking to jump into the 30ies from the 60ies on O would be significant Achievement for the offense, but each to our own.

LSU is now running a Spread/RPO - same offense OSU, Bama, and Clemson ran last season.
Michigan will also start running it this season (with Bama's RPO guru from '18)
You don't understand the connection? K. Other people do.

This is college football - the NFL is a different game.
I don't care if a great college QB can't make it in the NFL - they're still great in college.

This is the reason a thread like this continues on, page after page, and turns into a fricking pissing match. Guys like Buckeye Jeaux, and a few others, won't allow anybody to acknowledge the fact that Burrow is indeed a top-notch college quarterback, but there are others that are better.
Nothing wrong with accepting this to be a fact. It's just the way it is.
