No one gets the ball out faster than Joey! It's the scheme. Too many slow developing routes. I expect to see a bunch of quick-hitters (3 to 8 yard routes) added against Auburn.

I've watched Burrow since high school. He's as fast as Tom Brady when the play calls are made. Seriously.

He needs to get rid of it quicker

And I'll probably get blasted for saying this but it looks like he has the pocket awareness of Jordan Jefferson

To not see the pressure when it's coming from the right side is troubling. This happened multiple times against SELU and was reminiscent of JJ

I may get blasted for this, but in the Miami game (more formidable opponent), Joe would throw the ball away when necessary to avoid taking a loss. It was apparent to me that the SLU game was used for practice. How many times did he throw the ball out of bounds in that game?

He is a smart QB. I think they were testing the limits with SLU. Maybe even trying to encourage Auburn to blitz in upcoming game so we can counter with Nick running past it. At Auburn I believe we will see a different kind of play.

This is just my opinion and I am not a coach or "expert".

True, but he can't throw it quick on slow developing routes. I think it is obvious to everyone that the short passes set up the run game and the mid and long passing game. I think we'll see it on Saturday.

Brady and Belichick have won multiple Super Bowls doing it.

Young freshman typically have this problem, and if you count how many gametime passes he's actually thrown, it may just be him getting used to the game. It's an early season problem that I think will slowly get better, but it just needs to get better faster.

im not looking through p&g glasses, but the OL WAS complete arse last week. I think we'll see improvement with the personnel changes and addition by subtraction. getting Charles back was imperative. this, coupled with not being any worse than last Saturday should help coach E formulate a game plan to neutralize auburn's d line as much as possible. I think some screens, rpo's and quick hits can open up deeper passes as the game goes. auburn is still suspect in the secondary until proven otherwise.

And the defensive front we play this week is a lot better than SELU

Even with improvements on the line with Charles and Deculus he needs to get rid of the ball quicker

no argument there. he does need to go through progressions and make decisions quicker.

It’s easy to hold onto the ball too long when your receivers won’t get off the line and get open quickly.

The O line is getting a lot of flack and deservedly so but nobody is talking about how the receivers aren’t getting open. Burrow has been sacked after holding onto the ball for 4-5 seconds with good protection because NOBODY is open. The route running skills of our receivers are really starting to come into question. If you’re being blanketed by southeastern DBs that’s a problem

I believe you Buckeye Jeaux... I truly believe Joe is being coached up to hold onto the ball and be conservative, because this isn't the only QB that played like that... Etling, Brennan also played the same way. It's the coaching.

Hopefully Dec being on the right side helps "if" he starts. Traore looked bad against a quick, aggressive end.

I didn't notice Dec having issues. Did anyone see anything bad from him?

Joe needs that internal clock that says "I'v been looking down field for a long time" and look around the pocket. He had good moments. I think he could also have taken chances with throwing the ball up for the WR last week. Our guys are huge. 6'4" and up.

He needs to get it out faster. He doesn't have 3 seconds. Same issue the past 3 QBs had

LSU has instilled, and rightfully so, a mindset of no turnovers. But I believe it is to the point where the QB is waiting for them to come open BEFORE they throw. It has removed any anticipation to throw a man open. A man may be covered up before his break, but you are supposed to know where that break is and release the ball before the break. In the instant after that break he is open and the ball should already have been on the way. I have been watching LSU QB's lack in this area for years. Go back to one of the td's thrown by Tua in the nation championship game, he threw the ball to the wr with 4 guys in front of him, but Tua saw him clearing the pile before he got there, that is true QB vision. No bama homer, just facts.

You don’t have that type of poor performance without there being issues on multiple levels.

#1- obviously the line is weak. We all knew that. Traore is a mess.

#2- Burrow is definitely a beat late on his throws. Even on his completions. I think it’s partially not trusting or knowing his WR’s and a bit of a conservative nature. But the anticipation hasn’t been there. I think he’s capable, just needs to work on it.

#3- the biggest issue has been scheme IMO. And I am a big believer in Ensminger. But we had O-line shifts left, leaving Foster Moreau to block one on one with a DE. We were running two and three man routes 15 yards down the field. Of course Burrow was holding the ball, it was 2 on 5 and they hadn’t finished their routes yet.

Again, you don’t play a game that poorly on offense without messing the bed on virtually every level. Even just a good scheme would move the ball up and down the field in a mismatch of that caliber.

Tua also threw some balls and the receivers made plays. Sometimes you have to throw a 50/50 ball and hope the receiver makes a play, or tuck it and run. He's holding the ball way to long.
