Couldn't disagree more, I think the orange blazer is his saving grace. That blazer and his sweat glands are staples for Tenn Basketball.
But seriously while I thinhk he is overrated as a coach, you gotta give him some credit for his passion except win it gets him T'ed up

Pearl has been successful everywhere he's been from Southern Indiana (231-46) to Wisconsin-Milwaukee 86-38) and now at Tennessee (89-29) and has never had a losing record in those 17 years.
I met Pearl (and Summitt) at a coaches clinic they were hosting at UT a few years ago. They were in the process of building a new practice facility. He's very personable and it's easy to see how kids like him and his style of play. I haven't seen to much of the Vols this year, but seems like their guard play will be the weak link this year. Also haven't see them use his "55" (1-2-1-1) full ct press as much nor his primary offense called "Cutters" and the uptempo game has slowed down. A lot of that falls back on the guards and what they can do.
Anyway, he's definitely turned that program around in just a few years and the expectations are high there. As far as taking them to a Final Four or winning it all, that may have to wait at least for now.

I like Pearl he brought these guys from nothing to a an SEC favorite with his brand of play.He will be good a long time there as he keeps getting more up-tempo players.I think the T was the biggest play in the game for the Tigs.It was our first points in about 4 minutes and ended a big run for the Vols.Helped us regroup we played much better after that.

unfortunately, bruuuuuce pearl is great for the no enthusiasm tennessee fans. I have been to the fotball games, basketball games,baseball games and even a few swim meets ( ROCKY FLOP is the only song they know), Bruce is good for the fans here. he brings passion to them. They are the most boring fans ever. When you watch the Tigers,(I am one of those) we stand up all game long, we yell no matter what!! they just sit there and complain. Last night @ the game, You could hear the 3 LSU fans over all the ut fans around us. They told us nonstop, LSU has the best fansas well as the most obnoxious!! He has helped raise money for there school. As for as coaching, He really doesnt impress. I guess you could say his "newness" has ran out.

Pearl is not overrated. He is a good coach with a good team, whom we beat tonight.

I've been a big fan, as Pearl is a great recruiter, runs a fun offense, and has a player friendly HC/MO/Program, but he must stress and improve his defense and player toughness, if he is to ever become an NCAA championship caliber HC, otherwise he is going to remain a Sweet 16 maximum type gadget-O HC. Which will fill Thompson-Boling for many years, but eventually frustrate.

...yea they missed the out of bounds call, but the referee that was standing there almost got knocked out by CJ therefore he didn't see what was going on...

Bruce Pearl is a media driven ego maniac who is finally getting exposed. He was fortunate to inherit a talented team which had underperformed. To his credit they have been successful, but only due to the luck of inheriting an SEC player of the year. Then he got lucky when the NCAA granted Tyler Smith instant eligibility upon transferring from Iowa.
Wheels are quickly coming off the Bruce Pearl bandwagon.
