Vegas has betting odds for Myles Brennan, Derek Stingley Jr. and Ja'Marr Chase to win the Heisman Trophy: LINK /

It'd sure be a great story if Stingley won as a defensive player.

Brennan!
If he doesn't have a great year, Chase's chance is between slim and none.
There has been one DB and it was just politics.

Politics? What did politics have to do with it? Woodson had a great year. And he played PR and WR as well. That's the only way a DB is gonna win.

I mean he had 2 WR tds, 1 rushing and 1 punt return.. Along with being a shutdown corner with 7 INTs. You can call it a fluke all you want. But if that's a fluke then you are saying that no CB should EVER win. I mean in this day in age there are 5+ QBs that have the stats Peyton did as a Senior. Not too many CBs having the season Woodson had though...

For instance. Peyton Manning's senior year: 60% Completion %, 3800 yards, 36 TDs, 11 INTs, and 147 college QB rating.

Sam Howell's FRESHMAN year last year: 61% completion %, 3641 yards, 38 TDs, 7 INTs, and 160 college QB rating.

Like everyone calling it bullshite.. But in reality Woodson's stats are much more eyepopping. And if you disagree. Then you agree that NO player other than QB or RB should EVER win

ESPN played Woodson's high lights repeatedly, and repeatedly played Peyton's interceptions.
It was politics!

Peyton Manning could not beat FLA. that’s why he lost his senior year.

They should honestly just split the Heisman into an offensive and defensive category and get rid of the charade that they’ll ever actually consider giving it to a defensive player again

If Stingley can get like 9 or 10 ints and continue to shutdown #1 recievers then he has a shot.

Brennan is the best bet because its a QB award.

Chase and Stingley are both special enough that they could win it.

Stingley more likely IMO because Chase isn't going to be a returner.

If Stingley had similiar production as last year (won't happen, noone is throwing at him) at DB, returned 3-4 punts for TDs and caught 3 TDs and had a couple of hundred yards at WR he could do it for sure.

Idk what if chase catches like 60% of his TDs? And he has 35 TDS.

A second 20 TD season may get him a trophy.

This seems almost impossible. There's got to be a lower bar than this, especially in this chaotic season.

Sorry the bar isn’t getting lowered for a defensive player to win the Heisman trophy.

It absolutely can be done. He just has to be he best player in the country to do it.

Since returners are instructed to fair catch, most of the time, it further diminishes the marginal opportunity for a defensive back to win.

Champ Bailey had very impressive stats the next year and wasn’t even close to being a finalist.

I’m not sure he’ll get thrown at that much. OCs will be terrified of this kid.

You need a “story” to make it these days as a defender as a finalist. And even with that 70 percent of the voters won’t vote for anyone whose not a QB or RB

He may not have 9 or 10 targets this year. All joking aside, he won’t have enough targets to get that many

TM7 proved that you have to play on the offensive side of the ball to win it.
