anyone else semi worried that Hornsby was unable to make it through roughly 1/4 the basketball season and Brandon Harris had the same injury and surgery done by presumably the same Doctor?

Sports Hernia is a pretty serious injury but once repaired they shouldn't have any other issues unless the surgery was poor or the rehab was poor.

Seeing as how I'm not a doctor nor am I privy to the extent/magnitude of each player's injury, rehabilitation, etc I think opining on this matter would be stupid at best. Two different people, two different time tables for recovery, etc.

I'm more impressed that Harris played games with the injury. If it's as painful as Keith said, Harris is one tough SOB.

Harris has a longer time to recover and isn't sprinting 24/7 to aggravate it I would think.

I had sports hernia surgery when I was in high school. It is very painful, but if the surgery is done right, there should be no further complications from that surgery. However, the doctors will tell you that there is greater than a 50% chance that you will have a tear somewhere in your wall again, usually not the exact same location that the surgery repaired. During the surgery, a wire mesh is usually placed to prevent any further tears in that location. Brandon should be fine but his chances of having another hernia are always there.

The only rehab and recovery is rest and time, so you are correct. Keith was rushed.

And he was playing 35 minutes a game once he came back. Too bad we were so desperate that we had to risk him.

Harris can take it easy during practices for most of the Spring if he has to. Of course you would have to question why he was playing at all at the end of the year with such an injury. Kinda like Grant Hill killing his career and nearly ending his life to play through an injury in a no win situation.

It is painful and I concur with your assessment.

As an MD, I'm not even sure they have the same injury. "Sports hernia" is a pretty generic term that is often used incorrectly for several different injuries.

Healthy Harris is about to go HAM. Jennings knows what's up. Beckwith knows what's up. Everybody knows what's up. We're bout to go on a two year run fa sho.
