Were young and inexperienced. We should be in great position next year though.
There is a vast difference between tinkering with the lineup and having the revovling door of failure that we have had this year. I am hoping for a substantial turnaround this year, but the clock is ticking.
You see it one way, and I see it another. However, I agree we should be in good position next year.

Still equates to them being a very, very much above average team in the country and that excludes all of the Marists and IUPUI's of baseball world. We're still a very dangerous team that can find our peak at any moment.
2009 was very similar, except we were winning SEC games and losing too many midweek games. Pick your poison. 2008, by SEC and overall standards, was even worse by this point. I recall the '08 Arkansas series on a Friday night and watching with about 2,000 fans...more buzz around campus about LSU women hoops playing for a Sweet 16 berth against DePaul then at the Box.
This is the 4th series. I usually take the 7th or 8th series as my fair assessment point because think about it -- we might be 3/4 through with the SEC schedule by then, but there is a possibility of some 12-16 games remaining in post season play. What we've done in Hoover lately has always had a huge impact on the remaining postr season games minus last year as we were simply fricked and sent out to a little league ballpark in Los Angeles...against the best pitching staff in the country. We get sent to Storrs, CT instead and we would have been the first team out in Omaha and not the 2nd at Jackie Robinson Memorial Playground.

Being patient is your prerogative...I've seen enough to know this team has issues that can't be "coached up " or tinkered with enough to make them great.

Well, then someone just needs to call Coach Mainieri and let him know it's all over: we have no shot at a regional, super, or Omaha. He can inform the team that Tiger Nation has just thrown in the towel and given up, and their will be no need to waste anybodies time and play any more games this year!
I agree that the team hasn't been playing there best ball, but I expected that this young team would go thru growing pains! Anyone who didn't was kidding themselves.
As 2008 showed us anything can happen, and no I am not saying we are about to win 20 some games in a row, but we still have 20 games left in SEC play. We can still win this weekend series against the Hogs!
The funny thing is if this team does start putting it together the same people who said it was over will be the first to come say I told you so.

Agreed. This LSU team is too talented to not get it turned around. Something needs to happen to get there confidence back. I hope it happens soon.
