Combine those two with Travinski consistently dropping pitches over the plate popping his glove it is frustrating as hell. I have never seen an LSU catcher struggle to catch routine pitches that are on target and in his glove and cost his pitchers strike calls. I'm to the point I don't care what he can do with a bat if he can't play fundamentally well behind the plate.

Line drives at night are tricky I’ll give him that small credit but that was the worst play I’ve seen in college ball in a LONG LONG TIME. For the ball to be hit literally within his stance and he frick it up so bad to literally not be able to attempt to even catch it is just amazingly terrible.
The only good thing is we were on the road at a great teams place and should have EASILY won game 1. We beat ourselves into a pulp.

Worst take of the thread. Hitting, where failure 2/3 of the time is considered excellent, is in no way comparable to fielding.

Maybe somebody should remind Thompson (and poster) that baseball is a game of failure…except for fielding and throwing!
