Last HR was against Southern on Ash Wednesday. Dude has apparently given up hitting homers for Lent.

I've been a big supporter of this kid all season, saying he shouldn't be benched because he can't break out of a slum riding the pine. But enough is enough. We're better than halfway thru the season and the guy is just not producing. And then, tonight, after reaching on a weak single, he rounds second on the next hitter's single, and gets himself gunned down when the RF threw behind him while he was lollygagging back to the bag.

I don't know what's on this kid's mind (I personally think he's counting his draft money),
but it sure ain't baseball. Time for a change.

Cant bench him. Gotta stay with a guy with his track record.

He was in a slump because he was focusing on homers. Now he is out of the slump because he is focusing on getting the ball in play. Not sure which one he will go back to after lent.

Even if it starts to cost the team in terms of wins and losses?

Long gone are the days where some jokers on here were actually questioning whether he was a better hitter than Todd Walker.....wow.

I think we have enough other good bats to just leave him in there and see if he can work it out.

my bad, dont know what i am thinking about then.

he def should drop.

Benched? no. Dont think there is a better option, and you cannot get out of a slump on the bench. Just the way i see it.

agreed on the no bench aspect. and honestly his weekend was "that" bad. i kind of thought he was on the verge of coming out of it. he's still pulling everything though.

I have agreed w/ that stance all season. And I understand that he doesn't have a Matt Clark in the lineup to protect him this season.

But I don't know if you saw the play at second base tonight that I referred to in the OP. He dogged it. Total lack of hustle on his part. And it ended up costing us a run. If I'm his coach, that alone warrants a benching until he gets his head on straight.

Who knows what's happening with him. Reading too many press clippings before the season. Baseball is a game of slumps, as the best in the show have them. Lance Berkman hit 1 double in like the first 56 games last year. Is he pressing too much to be "The Guy" on the team. I think this offense really misses Clark. I think you drop him down the lineup, and at some point I might give a young guy a shot for a day. Look what happened when Tyler and Mikie got a day.
