[5] Can you pay $36 million in buyout 10 million over the next 10 years for a new coach and still buy a roster worth anything
Short answer is no.
LA is the poorest state with the poorest people in the United States. They simply dont have any money to give. Compare that with the Ohio State and Michigan fanbases. They have billionaire donors but really dont need them to fund their NIL. LSU doesnt have billionaire donors and a fanbase that doesnt have a pot to piss in.
Plus BK has built a really nice administrative staff that will pay off sooner than later (provided we can be competitive buying players). Very much like an NFL front office. The BOS has bought in to this vision by approving additional $$$ to fund it.
Take all that together and Kelly isnt going anywhere for awhile. LSU resources will be focused on buying players, not paying buyouts and new coaches.

Bro Clemson very well may run the table and be the #1 seed in the playoffs. And we could win the rest of our games and still be top 4. I get everyone’s fatigue of losing season openers (myself included), but this is not the game to push all your emotional chips in to us winning.
There is a reason they are ranked higher. It’s sucks that the schedule fell this way but it is what it is. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if we win, but I won’t be shocked if we lose. And hopefully the team doesn’t let it stop them from pushing on & handling business in SEC play.
ETA: looking back, Kelly really should have come away with a win against FSu or usc to keep that monkey off his back. This “can’t win game 1” storyline is becoming bigger than it should be this year

my point is, losing to a championship hopeful team in game 1 isn't the same as losing to bad UCLA team that isn't even in the discussion for the post season. If we lose a really hard fought game to clemson, we will still be a pretty hard team to beat going farward.

Clemson is #1 or #2 if you rank most talented rosters on our schedule. I'll be worried if we're dominated, but just losing to a good team doesn't mean you suck.

Can you imagine what BK will do to a folding table if he loses another opener?
