It mainly helps in this BCS era and presumably into the playoff selection process as well.

2003 and 2007 both happened because of the respect the country has for the SEC.

Getting at-large BCS bids also gets a nice bump here too.

Of course, as another poster mentioned, it's also helped our competition get crystal and BCS bowls too.

I can't stand Bama either, but this:

Georgia may be 11-1 and ranked third in the nation, they also played just two teams with more than eight victories and lost one of those games by four touchdowns.
