Tommy White went 0-5 with 3 Ks

That means the fella is going 4-5 with 2 HRs and 5 RBIs tomorrow against the Wake Forest Poverty Lineup.

They are on to him. Anytime there are two strokes they throw that slider and he reaches.

Or letter high fastball. He crowds the plate and people try to throw inside and they’re college pitchers so they can’t. Then they are more comfortable throwing outside, and that’s where he thrives.

As OP said, breaking balls away out of the zone, high fastballs. He can’t lay off

Maybe it’s been said already, or maybe it’s just me. But it seems to me he has too much gyrating going on with the bat pre-pitch and isn’t completely ready for the pitch when it comes, and takes a wild swing that has no chance.

Kinda. He’s still a great hitter, but he’s been used to being the big dog and center of attention on all his teams, and is really pressing to join the party. He’s anxious up there and expanding his zone trying to do too much. And the better teams are exploiting that.

What concerns me most is that he’s missing his pitches early in the count unlike he used to. Fouling back a lot of 1st pitch fastballs down the dick that he normally crushes 450.

I know this sounds crazy because he hit like .370 with 22 bombs and almost 100 RBI against the best pitching in the country in the SEC, but I don’t think he’s been right all year after he hurt his shoulder. I’ve had that injury myself and it can affect your hitting, even if it’s imperceptible to everybody else. There’s a constant pain in the back of your shoulder that can make it more difficult to get to elite fastballs, so you sometimes find yourself cheating just a bit. And against this level of pitching, just a bit can make a big difference. It would explain some of his weak swings against good sliders and why he’s been chasing high fastballs out of the zone. He’s probably having to decide a fraction earlier than he normally would. And that’s likely contributed to his frustration, not being able to do what he knows he’s capable of. We saw it with Dugas and how his hitting took a dive after he…took a dive. His was just way worse and more obvious.

Good news is that Tommy is an elite hitter with even more elite hand-eye coordination, and he can overcome a slight physical impairment with a slightly better mental approach. He just need to stay within himself a bit better, and as soon as he hits one over the bleachers—and I think he will soon—he’ll get his mojo back and become the absolute force he is. But after he gets it cleaned up/injected with stem cells/rehabs for a few months, whatever it calls for, I think he’s going to have a fricking monster year next year. Like 30-35 home runs monster year. Hell, I think he’d have hit 30 this year if he hadn’t got hurt.
