The SO and I are trying to decide where to stay for the weekend. Does anyone have any idea of where to expect the majority of tiger fans to be partying? Are there a lot of bars near the stadium or is there another area of the city that will be more popular?

Is midtown too far away from the stadium to stay or does it not really matter?

We’re both in our mid 30s and we looking for an area with plenty of choices of quality restaurants and bars.

I lived in Midtown, and stay in Midtown near a Marta station. Buckhead is also good, if you don't know the area. Use Marta to get to the game.

When I went to the (edit) 2011 SECCG I stayed by the airport and hated it.

Staying at Westin downtown. It's where we always stay for games in Atlanta. Less than a mile walk to the stadium.

Downtown, Midtown, or Buckhead.

I’d try and stay somewhere close to a MARTA station to get to the stadium

I live near Sun Trust Park and the Battery outside the stadium is a great place to dine/drink. However, MARTA doesn't reach up that way so you'll have to Uber/Lyft to the game. If you want to take MARTA, I suggest Midtown or Buckhead. I'd stay away from downtown.

Thanks for all of the reply’s. We’re not that concerned about the Marta because we’re gonna be Ubering everywhere we go most likely. How was the Piedmont Heights area?

Don’t listen to those who say to stay by the airport. We usually stay at the Westin downtown. Lots of good hotels downtown which are walking distance to the stadium. Midtown is a great area and lots of good places to eat. A short Uber to the stadium. Omni is one of the closest hotels and connected to the CNN center and next to the college football hall of fame.

It’s mostly a residential area near Piedmont Park. Nice area but you’ll have to uber to bars, restaurants, etc

Cumberland area near the new Braves stadium.

Downtown will be a nightmare. They are having a big boxing event at State Farm arena the same night.

I live here. Stay in midtown or Buckhead. It’s is not dangerous. Atlanta is a great city. Don’t believe the racists who are afraid of black people.

That area is just fine. I live in Ansley Park, which is a decent area of town, and Piedmont Heights is a nearby neighborhood. I don’t know any hotels in Piedmont Heights, but you’ll have east access to the stadium from there.

We’re staying in an Airbnb. As soon as the owner responds we’re going to book this thing and we’ll be ready to go. I wonder if the local tiger alumni chapter will be throwing a party somewhere.

Stay away from south and east /west of city. Downtown and buckhead safest bet, but you’re gonna pay for it. And Atlanta has a nasty habit of trying to schedule several large conventions, festivals and other events on the same weekend. Also it’s close enough to The holidays that corporations have booked their Christmas parties.
