Someone alert the news channels that a freshman is having academic problems at LSU

Can he really be considered a freshman when everybody already knows he's not gonna be a sophomore?

It actually appears that he is more of the a distraction than a benefit.

He's going to win SEC POY, make an All-American team and go first in the draft.... You somehow think that having him on the team hasn't helped us? This team would have been absolute trash without him.

Johnny Jones is not the coach LSU needs but Simmons is already in academic trouble and hasnt been at LSU a year.

What is the point of Simmons trying hard in class? Even if he busted his arse for one year that gets him nowhere since he will not be earning a degree soon.

This the problem with having a kid who obviously thinks he is better than the program he is playing in and is looking out for himself because he already knows he is gone.

Tons of programs do great with guys like Ben. The issue is that we don't have a coaching staff to set him up for success.

I think some of the posters on this board are more fans of Ben Simmons than they are LSU.

And I think some posters of this board are more interested in a moral high ground than actually winning games.

Not to mention he has already started assisting with recruiting as we have learned in the Drake letter.

Don't be surprised if the Simmons vs. Ingram talk heats up. Ingram is a solid playmaker already but needs to put on weight to drive inside and play with those elite SFs in the league. Just my .02, but Simmons going 1 is not so much a sure thing anymore

This is bullshite... Simmons himself disappears in games by himself. JJ doesn't tell him to quit trying... I don't care what he does in class.. But he is getting a free ride by the college to play basketball... He could at least give it his ALL on the court... He is killing his draft stock by not showing ANY leadership skills and he seems to try to make a fancy pass to impress people when he can go for the hoop...

Ingram has a more total game than Simmons... IMO... Simmons is NOT as great as LSU fans want to believe...

I agree. As I mentioned in another thread I think at this point given what's happening he is more of a liability than he is a positive for this program. With his arrival came hoopla and publicity sure but along with it came super high expectations and scrutiny. Now that it looks as if we are going to finish even worse than last year we are now the laughing stock of the basketball world. I dare say that LSU would Be better off toiling in anonymity as a bunch of scrappy players with low expectations than all of this ridicule and embarrassing, woeful under acheivenent. It still all falls at the feet of one johnny Jones.

Pretty sure he could have moved back to Australia before his senior year and get drafted straight from high school.

Thats right, be grateful he helped lsu get to the nit. Lsu has simply been a formality for him.

I wonder what you will say when he ends up as the first pick after killing his own draft stock.

He is absolutely desperate to get his teammates involved on offense. Yet when he has the ball, everyone just generally stands and watches

Including Simmons. You can blame coaching but Simmons isn't exactly a ball of energy out there on the court. He can stand around with the best of them.

Correct on JJ. Simmons didn't go to at least one class all week. Not a big issue. I'm sure you would be Dean's List when you knew you had to be in college for a semester and a half, then make $25 million.

Players like him shouldn't have to go to college.

You can blame Johnny Jones for certain things but Ben Simmons was a turnover machine yesterday and in transition he was just flat out lazy.

True.

Yep could've easily taken the Mudiay, Brandon Jennings route. But he took the hard road and came here. I commend him for that

Ok dumbass... If you think he hasn't hurt his stock by the way he has played I can't help ya... He has zero jumpshot and plays lazy D and can't hit ft's... He could improve this but he is not #1 pick ready.... But you are a homer and see things differently...ANY SMART NBA guy sees this and should take Valentine or Hield before Ben...

I agree with this... IF they wanna use this rule make it TWO years or none at all... Hes 18 years old and should be able to do what he wants.. The Armed forces have 18 year olds fly multi-million dollar jets and put their lives at risk for this country. ALL people 18 years an older should be able to drink and buy lotto tickets and everything a 21 year old can do...

For those who don't normally follow CBB and basketball in general I'll put it to you guys like this, the best thing Ben has going for him right now is the fact that the NBA drafts Potential over need. I'll agree that maybe 5 years from now he could be a extraordinary player, but right now he's got more question marks than ever. I'm all for supporting the players that plays or played for this school, but you have to take the glasses off and look at things objectively.

He is easily the number 1 pick in the draft. Unfortunately that doesnt translate to success for a collegiate team. I think that is what a lot of casual basketball fans are having a hard time reconciling in regards to this LSU team.

Sounds like you are one of those casual fans, because there's no way easy way about the fact he's number 1. Hield, Valentine, Ingram, even Murray can go 1.

I will happily give you any odds you want that, unless some crazy injury occurs, neither will be picked before Ben. You name the odds.
