It doesnt take an expert to know he is not calling the game everyone else is watching!

Don't sell yourself short. You're a fricking broadcasting expert, and you know it. I don't use the word "hero" often, but it takes a "hero" with huge balls to say Jack Hunt like you just did.

Jim is LSU. He has done a great deal for this community . The man will be greatly missed when he decides to retire.

Have to agree with this. Driving home from br after a game last year I listened to part of a A&M game. Words can't describe how bad it is. I have heard high school games that had better broadcasts.

Yes! Because this is how it works in the Universe of Mediocre People.

I will "watch" a game on ESPN's Gamecast before I listen to Jim Hawthorne. I was stuck in a car last week during the Moo U game with him on the radio; it was excruciatingly painful to listen to him call the game. He is the king of the Catastrophe Syndrome and seems to get just as, or more, excited when the other team makes a play. I wish LSU could somehow convince Jim Henderson to switch from the Saints to LSU.

Ferguson was the best we've had in the 45 years I have been listening to LSU football on radio.

I AM a radio guy my entire career. You folks that continually jump on Hawthorne need to listen to some of the other PbP guys.

The Gator guy yesterday as bland but the color guy was quite good actually...

A&M's guy IS horrible!

He is what He is. Hawthorne know no more about football nor the history of Tiger football any more than he did when he started in 1983. We could do better...but I guess we could do worse too.

You have no idea how really bad he is until you listen to him while your watching the game. Several times I've turned on the radio and synced it to the TV game or listened to him at the stadium. I'm always even more amazed just how messed up he is. I always wind up turning him off.

This. I could almost live with the fact that he hasn't a clue as to what's going on in the game, but his Chicken Little, "woe is us" attitude is absolutely terrible and unbefitting a first-rate university.

LSU played its best defensive game of the year, held Florida without a touchdown, and you would've thought we were manhandled by what Hawthorne was saying.

If the other team makes a good play, he assumes it's because LSU did something wrong or, if LSU did do something wrong, he really harps upon this.

Jim is ok. I guess I like him because that's what I grew up listening to. I have to Say that Gordy is doing a pretty good job imo.
