this is my lineup for tonight. I'd rather have experience start off to relieve team coming out tight. Let the the older(not by much) set the tone.

1.) Freeman
2.) Robertson
3.) Diechmann
4.) Fraley
5.) Beau J.
6.) Reid
7.) Duplaintis
8.) Romero (DH)
9.) Papierski

He sees a lot more fastballs in the 9-hole than he would at lead off.

I never liked this argument.
If a guy can hit, it will be on the scouting report. Where he is in the lineup isn't' going to change how you pitch to him for the most part. who's on base and how many outs has more to do with how you pitch to someone, and who bats after you, and even then, it's not going to change how you pitch to someone that much.
If you know a guy can't hit a curveball, that's what you're going to throw to him regardless of where he bats. It's not like pitchers save curveballs.

Duplantis
Freeman
Fraley
Robertson
Deichman
Romero
Reid
Bryce
Beau

Which is exactly why the 9-hole is going to likely see more fastballs. Teams are very weary of walking the 9-hole with the top of the lineup coming up. Now, if a pitcher has command of his breaking pitch then they will throw it. But you still see a lot of college pitchers that can't throw a breaking pitch for a strike.

You got it. That's my point, this lineup looks so much better. Getting more fastballs by batting 9th is little league mentality.

No offense, but when Paps up to bat with 2 outs, I turn the channel.

I guess everyone who defended Maneri is pretty quite now watching this anemic offense right now.
