Update on our basketball tigers after there sluggish and hard fought victory over La Tech Friday night. The Bulldogs returned there best player and former C-USA freshman of the year in their PG Bracey and Tech gave LSU all the could handle and then some. But as they have done in the previous two games down the stretch LSU played smart sound basketball and found a way to win over a solid opponent.

LSU continues to just win, and that is really all that matters right now. They could jump as high as #17 tomorrow in the polls and ESPN has them as the #15 best team in America, so people are starting to take serious national notice.

Results for those wondering-
Southeastern 94-63
UNC-Greensboro 97-91
Memphis 85-76
Louisiana Tech 74-67

All 4 teams will play some form of postseason basketball that LSU has beaten, and all 4 opposing head coaches are all very well respected.

Next LSU heads to Orlando for a very challenging holiday in season tournament, the Advocare Invitational. There is not a bad team in the tournament and all have winning or undefeated records- Villanova, Florida State, Oklahoma State, Memphis, Canisius, College of Charleston, and UAB.

LSU first plays the College of Charleston on Thursday, Thanksgiving day at 6 PM the game will be on ESPN U. I will have a write up on the cougars out of Charleston on Wed night, but this will be a tough test, especially if Naz Reid is still feeling it from his ankle tweak against LA Tech. CoC is now 3-1, they have played and beaten Rhode Island who is one of the best "mid-major" programs currently in college basketball but just lost to Oklahoma State today 70-58 but it was much closer than the score indicated and Iba is one of the toughest places to play in the country.

Also Daryl Edwards scored in double figures, meaning every single one of the guys in LSU's rotation out of 9 have scored in double figures atleast once this year. This team is balanced and the next chance LSU plays at home is Saturday December 1st at 4 in the afternoon against Grambling.

Over your Thanksgiving holiday if you want a little basketball outside of Tiger football, rivalry week, and/or your pro football team LSU will be playing on national TV 3 games in 4 nights! Watch your Top-10 caliber Basketball Tigers before SEC play is near.

Yeah I saw good win for Penny and Memphis, I watched Yale dismantle Cal in Shanghai and they are a solid solid team, they also have NBA talent so it further will help LSU's RPI and I think Memphis will all but be assured to be a Quadrant 2 win if not better.

I thought he was using that as evidence that Memphis isn’t good.

Another fun fact:

Furman has beaten 2 of last year's final four teams (UL-Chicago and Villanova) and are 5-0.

We play Furman in December.

Another note, since Villanova isn't looking good lately, we have a decent shot at winning this tournament. FSU looks to be our toughest opponent.

Cal is probably the worst major conference team in the ncaa this year.

He wasn't S is more knowledgeable about college basketball than any on this board.

If we can get by CoC, then face a highly ranked Florida State and beat them it wont matter who we get in the finals we should be ranked in the Top-10 after the tourney

Wade is obviously very familiar with the SoCon being that he was at Chattanooga, UNC-Greensboro, Mercer, Furman, Wofford, and Samford have all have solid teams. This is what he was referring to when taking advantage of RPI in non-con scheduling the SoCon has long been a proving ground for good up and coming young coaches.

Pretty sure he hurt it in the UNCG game. It was talked about how he didn't really practice before the Memphis game and then again didn't practice much prior to Tech; so it sounds like it may be a little worse than a tweak. Hopefully nothing too serious and the extended time before Orlando helps him get it right.

This is the biggest thing that has stood out to me so far this year. I mean, you look at the game the other night, and your stars (Naz and Waters) didn't have the best stats (Naz was pretty much obselete), compounded with one of the worst team shooting performances I have seen in a while, and they still gut out a win against a solid team.

It is going to be a sight to behold once this team is clicking on all cylinders, especially once the defensive side comes along too.

LSU has a -16.5 point differential per game from behind the arc.

Get that fixed and they will be who we want them to be.

Furman beating Nova is perfect for us. Wade can use that to make sure we’re ready to play and don’t take them lightly.

I love LSU basketball, but this is a ridiculous statement for this time of year. LSU is a football school in a football state.
