I just think it's one of those back and forth kinda games where the score ends up being that high even though it wasn't played at a 70 score pace (if that makes sense)... But yea you may be right, it could be a lower scoring game

72 is probably a little high. I just see us finally hitting some three pointers. Go along with some o rebounds and some easy layups by our big boys made me think we could score some points.

The home games against State and Bama are as close to must wins as it gets in order for LSU to have a good SEC season. I try to stay positive just like many (well really just a few) about the team, but alot of people seem to be assuming that LSU will go on the road and beat USC, Ole Miss and Aub. While that certainly isn't "murderers' row", it's tough to "expect" LSU to do something that just about every other team in the conf (not named Kentucky) has had trouble doing this year. I think they lose at least one of the remaining road games, which makes the next 2 home games almost "must wins"

The dopes on ESPN were discussing the merits of Ole Miss AND Arkansas as tournament teams last night.
Looking at W/L only.
If you had switched the LSU and Ole Miss early seaseon SEC schedules, we would be 5-4 and they would be talking about LSU as a tourney team.
We need to kick it up a notch and take one of the two vs Alabama/MSU and sweep the rest to finish 9-7 at worst in SEC play to even get into the NCAA conversation.

Alabama is definitely on the bubble, and without Mitchell, not on the good side of the bubble.
Good points made by most everyone in this thread but this statement is a big stretch. Having an RPI of 31 with a SOS of 15 and being a solid #8 seed in most of the brackets is far from being "not on the good side of the bubble". The bottom line is that Alabama is an NCAA lock at 9-7 in league and still has a decent shot of getting in even at 8-8 (although that could very well put them in one of the dreaded play in games.

Bama is in as a high seed even if they lose at LSU and at Arky. Beat UF (i doubt that happens) and we're a lock and climbing in the seeding as we approach the MSU game at home. Can't lose at home to UT or AU and we're in.

Yeah saying we are on the bubble is a stretch. Like both Lunardi and Palm have stated, we are ahead of 15-18 teams before the serious bubble talk begins. We are a lock if we win 4 of the next 7 games. And to the guy that said don't be delusional about Mitchell, his last good game was against y'all. He hasn't been scoring, he didn't play defense, and he didn't give effort. Without him, everyone played harder and the offensive flow was much better. That's not being delusional.

Agreed. No ones denying Mitchell's talent, but it has been wasted much of the season. The Freshmen and other young guys are also more comfortable without having him to worry about

Alabama -2 FWIW
Should be a great game.
Should be a great game.

if we win this game i think 10-6 would be possible.

I'm not denying that Bama is the fifth best team in the SEC, but it may be a tough sell to get them into the tournamnent, if the middle of the SEC pack looks like this:
Alabama 9-7
Ole Miss 8-8
LSU 8-8
Arkansas 7-9
...or some combination thereof, with teams all losing on the road and whatnot.
The committee may just wash their hands of it, and draw the line at Vandy, unless somebody makes a strong run in the tournament.
That said, at the beginning of the SEC season, I said 9-7 + two wins in the tournament would get LSU in.
I think that holds true for any of the four teams.
Should be an interesting last month.
Especially if State or Vandy slide back a game.

Our RPI and SOS are what separates us from the pack. We have a better RPI than State.

Beat Bama!
that is all.

that is all.

In terms of Andre, I will continue to start him and I'll continue to encourage him to shoot the ball, be aggressive, and take good shots. The thing I do like about him, in the last three games, he's probably taken maybe four bad shots ... I'm staying with him, and so are his teammates, which are probably more important than me."

Right now.
That's what I'm saying. If nobody truly separates themselves from the middle of the pack, those RPI and SOS numbers will level out.
If LSU, Alabama, Ole Miss and Arkansas all finish between 7-9 and 9-7, and they all split home and home, I think the committee will just look elsewhere.
A lot of basketball to be played (obviously), but that's not the most far fetched scenario in the world.
