With the pitching we have currently on the roster, Baseball has a 2 year window to win it all. We just need the bats to come around.

We've had good pitchers before but not in these numbers. Previously it was always 2 good weekend guys and 2 or 3 good bullpen guys and a whole bunch of average guys to fill it out. This year we have 4 legit starters and it seems like there are 8 guys that can come out of the pen and give us good stuff.

I'm know I'm just stating the obvious but this pitching staff has me excited abd I think its rare in any sport to have 2 years to win something. Football, for example, had to win it all last year cuz the whole team was going pro regardless.

That head coach though.

That year we lost to the eventual champion UCLA in the CWS had tremendous pitching, all for naught. That was our year. CPM blew it.

Cole Henry is probably gone after this year. Losing Beck and George. Probably losing Fontenot, Vietmeier. Storz can also get poached.

Pitching is deep this year but it's not guaranteed it will be next year, especially if these guys really perform this year.

Edit: Labas also eligible. Sorry I'm pessimistic about counting baseball players as returning. The draft is not setup for it.

Next year will have Marceaux, Labas, Hill, and Storz along with a strong, deep pen that will have experience and any added freshman. It will still be deep. You are really only losing two key guys in Henry and Fontenot.

It needs to be pointed out that this exact combination got LSU to a CWS championship series in 2017 coming through the losers bracket so it can work.

Because Gilbert had the game of his life after Walker got hurt. Lange Poche and Walker got you there. Lange and Poche got you to that final. And then we had nothing left to get us to Hess.

Buddy, CPM had pitchers on the mound that threw nine innings without a single earned run against UCLA. We scraped across what should have been the winning run (remember, this was the dead bat season). In the sixth inning our catcher, Ty Ross, had an error that led to an unearned run, and in the eighth our all-world shortstop, Alex Bregman, had an error that led to another unearned run. I guess Mainieri should have substituted for Bregman and Ross?

Exactly. And coming through the loser's bracket put us on short rest. But Walker getting hurt I think was the back breaker.

That game against UCLA was so hard to watch. LSU hit some drives that would have gotten out any other year and any other ball park.

We will get Marceaux, Hill and Hasty back. Everyone else is draft eligible I believe. It could be a one year window.

That umpire was generous as well...Even though he was consistent with it all day some of those "outside corners" were a bit much and most people would agree on it.

ETA: Was this the same game Kwan hit the "foul ball" in the left field corner?

That was probably Reynolds best game of the season. He pitched well enough for a longer outing than he probably had all season. But yeah we were out of arms at that point and needed the bats to pull through.
