Baseball Schedule

I just realized it’s not only the opponents in the first 5 weeks that are brutal, but if you include Missouri, 4 out of 6 series are on the road.
Not ideal for an inexperienced team. The good news is Mizzou sucks and then 3 out of final 4 series are home.
It will be interesting to see if they can go on a run. A 5-10 start could turn into 15-15 or 16-14.
One thing is for sure, the schedule makers did us no favors in a year when we could have used a softer opening schedule.
This team will also be battle tested if they have to go on the road for a regional. I like the pitching depth in the regional format also.

There may be two schools of thought on that. The early schedule pretty much evaporated any delusions we fans may have had about how good this team is right now. There is a lot of talent, they are just not acclimated to the rigors of SEC play. This may be a trial-by-fire stretch where we come out battered but hardened like high-strength forge steel. How we look in the next two series will indicate if the younger guys are moving in the right direction.

Do I think this team repeats? Nope.
But anyone watching us play #1 Arkansas to the wire in 2 of the games(heck even close in game 1 until the 8th), gift wrapping the series to #4 Florida that we should have won
And then saying we can't make it back to Omaha just started watching baseball this season. One of those two teams will for sure be in Omaha we literally weren't far off.
Baseball is weird. This team has played elite teams close. Who knows what can happen if we close strong with the weaker schedule and these boys get some confidence going into tournament time.

This isn’t as big of a deal like it is in college basketball. The crowds generally suck outside of a few schools

Stupid take..
starkville crowd never sucks
Fayetteville set attendance records this weekend
Knoxville will be rowdy as hell

That is so true. The thing that makes baseball so unpredictable is that one player can have a disproportional impact on a game, the pitcher.
You get those guys who have a very mediocre, sometimes worse than that, career. Then on that one day when they face your team, they are possessed by the spirit of Nolan Ryan and absolutely shut your team down. And their batters are suddenly Murderers Row. Things happen that you wouldn't put in a fictional story because you just don't think people will believe it.
Hence the statement "that's baseball", which tRant hates
