One unknown about McManus is will he be able to hold up catching the majority of the games. That’s why he didn’t catch much at Samford

He caught the vast majority of games in his 2019 season at Delgado. Many of those being double headers. Durability shouldn’t be an issue

I believe he came in with a nagging injury. He didn't run the bases alot in the fall. They could've been nursing him at Samford, which is why he didn't catch as much there.

I haven’t seen him run the bases in the fall or spring in the limited times I have been

Wasn’t aware of the nagging injury. Hopefully he is fully heathy as his bat can be a difference maker.

Seems like he's 100% fine hitting and healthy enough to catch. Just wonder why they'd be keeping him off the bases still. Something to pay attention to, for sure. Maybe why Wyeth is hanging around.

i kind of like that doughty is kind of an afterthought on all these national "lists". Fuel the fire.

I think the guy who’s getting the least attention but will have a huge impact is Dugas. He damn near carried us through that Eugene regional last year.

We know Dugas has the power. If Dugas can improve his average he make a big move up the draft boards.

Doughty is just such a good all around player. I know Berry is looking at a top 10 selection in the draft but considering Doughty's defensive skills, I would argue Doughty is more important to this teams success.

Bianco is the most interesting player to me. I think Bianco and Dugas have very similiar skill sets. The thing with Bianco is it took him 2 1/2 years to start hitting for average. Truthfully, I gave up on the guy. If Johnson can keep him hitting for average, we know he has the power as well. I can't wait to see where he fits in.

Anyone else think this lineup could be potentially better than ‘09?

Jay Johnson has had very high praise for Doughty since he arrived in Baton Rouge. It's pretty crazy if Bianco carries over his hitting from the postseason he will be a great utility guy. I am going to keep pretending like I had faith in him all last season.

I think the top half of this lineup is better but the 09 lineup overall was slightly better (it's hard to go against a national championship team in preseason )

Let's go with guys had 60 hits over above.

You're top hitters in 2009 were LeMahieu, Schimpf, Ochinko, Dean, Mitchell, Gibbs. (Landry was a sub half the time) Hanover, Nola, and Mahtook didn't come on till late.

This years team has Berry, Crews, Morgan, Doughty, Dugas. The question is the guys that fill around. It'll take Thompson, McManus, Drost, Jobert, etc... having good years.

Does anyone see a resemblance of Jacob Berry to Blake Dean?

Not really
I still think Beloso could be brothers with Matt Stafford

No position losses at 2B? You counting Arnold as a SS?

I can add him. I keep thinking in my head he was SS but that was just because he started there last year.

Updated.
