I have two sons, 8 & 6(will turn 7 in Nov.). They both love the game of baseball and I try to teach them as much as I know about the game. They are fairly decent and I want them to get the best coaching available. Do you guys think that the camps PM puts on are worth it? Yea I know its LSU but really is it worth it, are the camps more than just a day care with baseball thrown in? Like to get some honest opinions

Yes.

Sent my 8 year old nephew/Godson to PM's winter camp as a Christmas present last year. He learned a lot. His parents are sending him again later this year, and I'm doing it again this Christmas.

Big Leagues of BR runs some pretty good camps as well. They have instructors like Brad Cresse and Eddie Yarnall, and the kids learn quite a bit there, too.

My nephew benefitted enough from these camps that he was one of the better players on his YMCA league team this past year.

I went to the Skip Bertman camp back in the day and it was pretty solid. Not sure how different it would be, but you can't go wrong with PM. I think you should send them there.

Just gathering info. Seems like it is worth it. I would hgihly pissed off if I do this and it turns out to be a day care instead. I don't like wasting money but gagin form the response it seems like it is money well spent. By the way, morning sessions only or full day? I am traveling from Crowley so about an hour away each day.

I don't have any info so don't go by everything I say, but its not full day. It starts in the morning and ends around lunchtime. Prolly about 3-4 hours a day. But like I said....I did this about 13-14 years ago.

It's not. It's the real deal. PM and his coaches supervise the camp themselves.

I sent my nephew full day. If you plan on dropping him off and hanging around for a while, half-day might be better for you. It depends on your schedule.

My 13 yr old and 9 yr old have been the last few years. Had a good time, but did not learn a great deal. They divide the boys up into teams and play ball games the whole time. The games are played in the outfield of the old box. Not on the infield. You may want to try another camp if you want them to learn more about how the game is really played.

I went to the Skip Bertman camp ('99 I think), and it was worth it. I'm sure PM does just as much.

he offers a choice. Morning only 9am -12pm or full day 9am-4pm. i think morning only for now would be better, see how it goes. the winter camp when do they put out a schedule for that?

Here's a link with every camp, per sport, that's currently scheduled.

Thanks for the link. that is where I got the current info. It doesn't say anything about a winter camp, maybe he will not host one this year
