I see on the Bama schedule that they don't have to play Florida....aren't they suppose to play Florida every year, just like we have to?

If they don't have to, why is that?

I hate Tim Tebow...BUT I think Florida would whoop their arse!

Nope, they get Tennessee every year.

We have a permanent opponent in Tennessee from the east. Everyone else we rotate.

No, their permanent opponent is Tennessee. I believe LSU got the short end of the stick when it comes to East/West opponents. Of course, I'll gladly take Tennessee every year and they can have Florida.

BTW, I think the only fair way to handle this situation is to have the teams rotate every two years with no permanents. But we can thank Alabama/Tennessee and Auburn/Georgia for that problem.

Florida is LSU's primary member from the east to play. Tennessee is for the Gumps.

I'd much rather have Florida every year. Helps our schedule strength, and it's becoming a huge rivalry.

It also affects our chances of getting to the SEC Championship game. Arkansas only went 2 years ago (when LSU beat them) because they didn't play Florida in the regular season.

When it was setup, they put Arky and USC together since they joined last. Then they matched teams to make the best rivalries and keep it competitive. If they had matched Ole Miss to UF and LSU to Vandy, there wouldn't be much competition every year.

Agreed. But there should be no permanents. This is where the SEC can learn from the Big 12. Nebraska and Oklahoma don't even play on an annual basis anymore.

Bama has another thing coming if they think they are taking down Florida. I know they would like to think they have NCG potential, and we went with two loses, but Florida will shut them down.

Alabama will probably meet Florida in the SEC Championship game.

Those are the two sides of the coin. Without permanents, you lose that historical rivalry. You can see that clearly with the two teams you mentioned. It isn't nearly what it used to be.

Is rotating everyone more fair? Of course, but the SEC would rather heated rivalries and better TV ratings. I don't there is a right or wrong way, but there's no denying that LSU/UF and Bama/UT are some of the best rivalries around.

But I think that rotating every two years is more fair to all teams involved.

That's what I said, too.
