Balance on the Rant on Sunday Morning

You know, the Politards on this site take a lot of grief for being either one side of the other, but that's politics and principles, this is college football on the rant, but it seems quite similar. On the rant it seems you're either a cheerleader or a negatiger. Either you're a real fan or a hater. I'd really love to see some balance here this morning. I'd just like some perspective, balancing the negatives we all saw last night with a realization that teams make their most progress between the first and second game of the season.
Last night I think we all witnessed some serious concerns on Defense on the D line, in a super soft zone coverage giving way too much cushion most times, and the arm tackles and missed tackles were ridiculous. I know I did, but I think we realize that this was game one, clear on the other side of the country two time zones away, and in a pretty hostile environment against a team that was very motivated and much better than last year. That said, I believe Chavis is going to have to address these areas this week or LSU will be getting handled again.
On offense, I think they did pretty well considering, and really thought Jefferson did a good job in his outing. His running the ball sometimes concerned me for his health, but he sure does add a dimension to the O that a drop back passer doesn't. He's got some real talent, that's for sure, especially considering his age. Our running game had some bright spots as well as our receivers, especially TT.
In short I think LSU's offense did a good enough job to get it done pretty effeciently and I have nice confidence in them this year, but the Defense is, like last year, a real area of concern. No, they didn't look quite as confused as to what they should be doing as they did last year, but they looked real soft, and I simply am not and never have been a real big fan of the zone, although I know you can't go with Man to Man all the time. I would just like to see some mixing it up a little more, and we cannot allow quarterbacks to roll out like they did last night and cook us.

The rant is far worse than the poli board. On the political front the worst I can expect to be called is a racist, a neocon, or a brainwashed Fox robot. Here they go straight to retard for expressing concerns over the teams performance.

Yep, and everybody knows you never go full retard.
But you may very well be right, and the passion may be even more so on here that on the Poli. It just seems like people can't balance their dissapointment or even frustration with all the facts. Some choose to turn their eyes away from those facts, while others focus only on the negative.

Well at least the d never looked confused. Contrary to most I think the linebackers and d bs played pretty good. McCray is still a liability and good teams will find a way to eat his lunch. I think he needs to move to lb and possibly back up Coleman The d line with the exception of Nevis and the scheme were absolutely horrible. Two things 1) Miles needs to let some of these young studs play (Baker never saw the field and downs didn't see it enough) and 2) the scheme has to be fixed. Its the same horrible crap we have seen since the second half of 2007. Too much soft zone and no disguising of blitzes. Jefferson and the O looked good when we opened it up. For some reason Miles still thinks we can force chuck scott up the middle. I don't think our O line is terrible but they are not good enough to just line up and pound it. In the end this game was very dissapointing. I expected us to be light years ahead of where we were last year and quite frankly we aren't. At this point I thinks apparent to anyone who can take off the purple and gold lenses for a few seconds that Les Miles is not worth four mil a year. Great Man, Great Recruiter, but not that great of a coach . Time management and personel management has been very bad his entire tenure and its finally starting to catch up to him. This is an 8-4 team and with the talent we have assembled that is not going to cut it.
