Not too long ago, I could say the same about someone else. Now he is the start of the "Bachelor - College Football Edition".

Until Baker PROVES on the field that his unit can stop a dual threat QB who is HEALTHY, then Baker is NOT a great DC. I said healthy because he did "stop" Sellars twice...once by knocking him out of the SC game in 2024 at halftime and then this year after Kentucky had knocked him out a game earlier. Baker's defense is only good only a standard offense with a pocket type passer. You put him up against a mobile QB wiling to run past the LOS, and he is SOOL (shite out of luck).
You are discounting the players role in this. How many times was the play call correct, but the player doesn't stay in his gap? The players making mistakes on the field are absolutely part of this. Perkins and Whit have both been guilty of this.

Obviously you may be 100% correct about "lack of execution". Having said that, who coaches the LBers like Whit Weeks which you referenced. Oh yeah, Blake Baker. For an analogy, Brian Kelly got held responsible for bad OL play, bad playcalling, playing the wrong QB, etc. His name is on the door so that is fair...just like it is fair to hold Blake Baker responsible for defensive busts, bad positioning during plays, etc. He IS responsible for the defense...good or bad. "COACH THEM UP" is the remedy right?
