Best Western - Tiger Town
205 21st Street
Opelika, AL

5 miles from campus. $250 a night though.
In 2006 I reserved a room at the Best Western University Convention Center on May 14 for the Auburn game on September 15. I got two nights for 67/night.
Circumstances came up and I could not make the trip, so I called them on September 11 to get a refund, but they said I had to cancel 30 days in advance and that they were not going to refund my Visa and that they were going to hold my room for me.
I bitched, moaned, and argued to no avail. I called the corporate office and did the same. My main argument was that if they gave me a refund, they could make TRIPLE or QUADRUPLE what I had already paid for the same room. A few minutes later I got a call from the hotel saying they would be GLAD to give me a refund for 134 dollars so that they could rent the room for upwards of 500-550 dollars to someone on the waiting list.
I guess some middle manager at corporate explained the theory of Supply and Demand to Tammy Jo Methwhore, the manager of the Auburn location.
Stupid bitch.
OH...frick AUBURN. Glad I didn't make the trip after all...that would have been a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG ride back.

DON'T give in to the Knights Inn in Opelika. You will regret it.
Can't disagree. However, I've stayed there a few times over the years and managed to live to talk about it. Beer, it seems, helps to make the place a bit better.

in late 2005 i booked a room at the days inn right by campus for the 2006 game. gave them my credit card, got the confirmation number, etc....then i get a letter in july saying that i had to rent the room for every home game that season or i lose my reservation for the lsu weekend. needless to say i didn't do the $1500 season reservation and it just increased my hate for auburn.

Yes, this is the case for me too. But the lady that took my reservation made it VERY clear that this was their policy. So I would have no room to gripe. I marked my calendar for 8/18, to remind me to cancel if we have ticket problems or get a different room. $250 a night, but there's a bunch of us going to split the costs and at least we're only about 5 miles from campus.

Anyone ever stayed at the Quality Inn in Opelika?

Stayed there for the '06 game w/ some friends. Back then it was a Holiday Inn Express, I believe. We were very happy w/ it...10 minutes from the campus, had a very good bfast buffet set up. Just booked two nights yesterday this year's game, $140/night. They still have rooms left and you don't have to book mulitple nights.

Anybody familiar with any hotels in montgomery? I've stopped there when driving through once and it looked a little sketchy.
