Ill be at Third Base at 5th and Mopac for the Miss St game but i agree that the Auburn game is too intense for me to see it anywhere but at home. I have free 50yd lower level UT vs Rice tickets but wouldn't miss LSU-Auburn for anything. Third Base showed LSU North Texas with sound (plus 4 other games)

KELLESU? What's the head count for Lavaca at this point, and how many do we need?
I should have 4 definite (same four as my earlier post) plus possibly 3 more. What did Lavaca Street say we needed to get the back room with the big TV?

So far I have 18-20 as yeses and 9 maybes. Y'all keep bumping this so we catch anyone who hasn't seen it yet. I'll have more details later tonight.
Stu wants to get at least 30-40 who can definitely commit to showing up. I think that number gives us a pretty good party!

They played the LSU/UNT game with sound over the USC/Ohio State game?
I find that hard to believe!
I'm warming up to the idea of Lavaca Street! Can we get happy hour specials?

I like 3rd Base, at lot... but I'm not sure where you were for the N. TX game. I was there, too. The LSU game was on one TV next to the pool table with no sound.
I'm liking this Lavaca Street idea if we can have a section of the place just for LSU. The only problem with 3rd Base... but it's a major issue... is that everyone is mixed in together. They'll have 4 TV's side-by-side with 4 different games. You can't hear your game even if the sound is on. Otherwise, great place... clean, good service, and really good food.

we're meeting the GM at lavaca this afternoon to discuss all of this
but, some previous poster mentioned this earlier.
"Why do we have to show up early and in numbers if the back room is technically 'reserved'?"
I have to say, I saw the attempts at Alligator Grill, The Warehouse, the bowling alley - same result everytime - NO staying power, LSU fans simply didnt do a very good job of showing up in good numbers consistently.
Face it - my buddy that owns the bar is in it to make money, if we pull poor numbers the first time out, that's it - there wont be another opprotunity there.
and you know, he'll probably honor his commitment, and reserve the back room for this game no matter how many people show up.......but if we bring a dozen, it'll be the last.
we all want a place where we know we can always find LSU fans during games, like ShoalCreek. But right now, we need to pull together and really make a strong showing. face it, we're in the heart of Longhorn country, I doubt if we can show up at just any ole bar and expect to own the place - no more than another university's alum could expect to do so in BR. Once we establish some sort of basic groundwork (i.e. - strong showing every Saturday this season) - we'll have more flexibility as patrons.
It's not going to be all that often that LSU's and UT's TV schedule conflict, but here we are. I've tried to do this in the past to no avail, and I guess I'll try one more time. If you want to go to ShoalCreek, that's awesome, but we can have the exact same atmosphere at a second location just as easily.
the last 2 times I went to 3rd Base and UF Gators were playing, they showed up in HUGE numbers, and they got the entire right half of the bar - it was impressive - that's what Tiger fans need to do right now - show up big
So please, I really want this to go well, and I think that many fellow Tiger fans really would like an alternative to ShoalCreek, and lavaca would be a great place - they've got dozens of TV's, and good food.
I really need about 30 to 40 to be there at 6:00 this time, so if you can, please try

Ok kids, so here's the deal from Lavaca's owner and GM:
We are guaranteed -
1. At least 3 tv's in the back room
2. Sound in the back room
3. Bud Light, Budweiser, and Bud Select 5 to a bucket for $12
4. A free swing at Uncle Stu for every shot you buy for me (only one per person and he gets to swing back at you if you miss)
Lavaca really wants us to show up and the more people we get there on a regular basis, the better the drink specials are. Please show up with all of your friends and try to be there by 6:00.

Not sure what you are talking about. I got the LSU alumni email about watching LSU play Kentucky for an SEC title in basketball in 2006 at the bowling alley.
Me and the bartender had a great time

We had a really great meeting yesterday at Lavaca. They are going to do us a good turn, and I hope everyone that can and wants to returns the favor and shows up to raise some hell
plus, you get to take a free swing at an albino - who wouldnt want to do that?????

I didn't see this thread until this morning...wish I could have contributed to your headcount before your meeting with Lavaca.
I'm in
Kellesu - I'll buy you a shot and then take a swing at myself. Deal?

This will not be something where we show up and find that the bar changed its mind. This is a guaranteed game viewing with at least three tv's and sound in the back room. Please come out and bring all of your LSU friends. Also, be prepared with your best
for the sad UT fans who walk in and find that we've taken over. I expect them to look something like
.

Are these big screens/plasmas? That's one thing I hate about Shoal Creek...who wants to watch LSU football on a 25" tube TV?

we are guaranteed the 106" projection screen plus at least 2 47" plasmas. The more of us that show up, the more TV's we get
i.e. - we fill up that back room, we get 3 more plasmas. We're trying to get 4 more 50" installed by saturday, one of those is earmarked for the room we've reserved
