How so??? he built that dynasty at the U in the early 2000's. Miles has not come CLOSE to BUILDING a program as strong as that. Your LOVE for Miles has clouded your judgement.

Are you serious? Miami was built way before Davis got there. Y'all like to talk about how LSU recruits itself....no school recruited itself like Miami back then. He also had the most losses of any coach with 5+ seasons since Charlie Tate in the 60's. Although they were on probation for a few of those years

Mamoutiger, dude you are CRAZY if you think our talent level is less than Arkansas . I think Alabama might have us edged out a LITTLE bit, and i think we are equal with Florida. Then after Bama, then is and UF, it drops off.

I say 3 (Bama, Florida, Arky)

The day Arkansas has more talent than we do is the day Oklahoma State has more talent than Texas.

Even in 1992, when Arkansas skull drug us on a rainy and miserably cold afternoon, LSU had more talent. In 2000, same story almost...more talent. There has yet to be a year where Arkansas has more talent than LSU and there never will be such a day...their most talented team in over 20 years was in 2006 and even with ungodly RB's, nowhere near LSU's measure of talent.

Arkansas has NO recruiting base but for Little Rock and Pine Bluff. The rest of their players are from Texas or Oklahoma. They are pressing to even wrestle anyone away from LSU, OU, Texas, and Tennessee but yet they somehow manage.

Ryan Mallet does not equal Arkansas having more talent than LSU. Find me a year when Arkansas has a better recruiting class and I might believe you. The only SEC schools that can ever outrecruit LSU in a given year are UF, UGA, Bama, UT (when they get talent outside of state), and Auburn. The other 6 have never and will never outrecruit LSU. LSU is the only SEC school within driving distance to Houston and still has a great in-state base.

Wrong. A poster above described it perfectly. Arkansas
Their QB is way better, Oline is better, RB's are probably equal (we recruited all of their key guys), TE is way better and their top 3-4 WR's have experience and proven results in the SEC, so that makes them better even if they won't beat ours in a relay race

Most ridiculous thing I have read on the Rant in quite a while, Dennis. No wonder Shaq fired you.

It's hard to have this conversation without defining the word talent. People interpret what talent means in different ways.

IMO talent does not equal skill, but some people interpret it that way. To me, talent = potential and skill = level of development of that talent. If you ask who is the most talented team, I'd have a hard time saying that any team's players have a higher ceiling than the players at LSU. But I could certainly see how people would throw Arkansas up there if they take the word talent differently than I do.

Talent (potential) wise, we are dead even with UF and Bama.

Coaching wise, we have a lot to prove

Hilarious How some fans say ARKANSAS talent isnt in the same league as the MIGHTY tigers. I look at the last 10 years and it sure looks like it on the field! You guys put too much stock in recruiting classes where the difference in 3star to 4star is EXPOSURE in most cases.
Anyway, good luck in 2010 Tigers I always enjoy the matchup

There is no team on our schedule that will be measurably more talented than LSU. Period. LSU, Florida, and Bama are so equal, it cannot be measured.

Top line talent isn't really the issue - Ole Miss and Arkansas have produced some of the best players in the conference over the past 10-15 years. It is the breadth and scope of talent that, particularly the top 3 teams (talent-wise) in the league - Florida, Bama and LSU - have. Arkansas, under Nutt, generally got a lot of mileage out of the talent that was available. Petrino, slimy as he is, knows offense. Orgeron probably underperformed with the talent he had at Ole Miss. LSU has underperformed with our overall talent the last two years. Part of that is QB related, but there are other issues.

Bottom line - LSU has more "talented" players at virtually every position than Arkansas except QB and TE. However, Arkansas' QB is (at least thus far) MUCH better than any QB at LSU. That alone can make the difference.

Talent doesn't win football games (Stanford versus USC, Appy State versus Michigan, UAB versus LSU, ULM versus Bama) - however, it sure helps.

What say you?

Funny how the most important position on a football team(QB)can skew the perception of an entire team. Back out that one position and tell us you still think Arky has better overall talent than LSU. It's not even close really. A few decent offensive players to go with the best QB in the league but position by position LSU is more talented than ARKY by a wide margin IMO. I would give 'Bama and UF a very slight advantage over LSU in overall talent, however that evaluation could change by mid-year. A lot of good young talent on all 3 teams will make for a very interesting season.
As for the coaching, remember you have to account for more than just the head coach. Head to head coaching wise I'd rate LM 4th in that group. Entire staff wise I'd rate LSU second only to 'Bama. The Tigers have made some serious upgrades the last two seasons in the assistant ranks.

So you going to say Arky having a better QB from last year gives them better overall talent than LSU?

You are full of it and do not know what you are saying. All this crap with everyone being down on Miles gives everyone the right to say that Arky and Auby have better overall talent than LSU. All of a sudden they are are better talented but they have not out recruited LSU for the last 10 years with the exception of Auby last year gives them overall head and shoulders talent over LSU?

I Say you are full of crap and all this bull crap has no proof or valedity to it. If it does you show me where it has been proven. LSU beat the crap out of Auby last year and beat Arky also, should have beaten the crap outof them also.

So go over to there boards and you will get all the accolades for this post you can find but get out of here with your crap!

go look at the roster again. Bama talent is not even. they have a better O line, better RBs, a better QB, as good recievers, better D Line, Better LBs. The only place we are better is at DB.

You do realize teams are coached by a coaching staff, not just the head coach. To say LSU's coaching is not as good as all those teams is absurd. You probably don't even know who the position coaches are for all those teams and those are the coaches that actually coach and prepare the players during the season. LSU has 6 new coaches that have been with the team 1 year or less. All the defensive coaches were replaced last year and the defense was vastly improved in the only stat that matters...Points Allowed! On the offensive side of the ball, we have a new, RB coach, WR coach and TE coach that have yet to coach a game together. Why don't we wait and see how this new staff performs before you claim they are not as good as half of the staffs they go up against.
