Areas where Jefferson MUST improve

I know he's still relatively young (age wise), and he could grow into a very good QB, but I'm just not seeing the intangibles.
(1) "Feel" for the position - this is directly related to all the clock management issues. Only so much of this can be blamed on Miles/Crowton. He has to control the game from on the field. He should know when the clock is running, how to line up his guys, etc.
(2) Consistent accuracy - he has a decent completion percentage, but how many of those throws were put in a place where the WR could run after the catch? He also has a tendency to gun the ball when he should throw with touch. Still wildly inconsisent with accuracy over 20 yards.
(3) Quick release - his throwing motion is still way too long, and DBs can break on the ball too soon. I will be very disppointed if this isn't addressed this Spring.
(4) Anticipation of pass routes - At this level of football, you MUST throw before the receiver is open. He just doesn't do it often enough. Look at the Arkansas game. He had Tolliver open several times (once in the endzone) and failed to release. Perhaps Billy Gonzales will help with this...
Unless the above improvements are made....
Jefferson + 3rd & Chavis = another year of getting dominated in Time of Possession. And we'll average about 310 yds/game again.

Leadership is the main thing that was lacking, and not just at the QB position. There was no true leader on this team. JJ needs to take control of the team when they are on the field. Although I can see he has improved over the year, this is the one quality that he will not be able to survive without next year.

Jefferson can become the best qb in football and we won't win titles if can't run the football. The o-line and fullback must improve drastically.

Does he even know what a pump fake is? Seems to be a weapon for those QB's that use it.

Needs to look at his safety valve as well. JJ has the tools, needs the coaching. Will find out next year if he can reach his upside.
