I heard on a broadcast earlier this year about the umps being graded by Trackman and how that's caused them to call the way they are this year. I seem to remember them saying that 96% of pitches in the zone are called strikes, which seems HORRIBLE to me. That means 4% of pitches inside the zone are being called balls.
I also seem to recall someone comparing the SEC to other conferences and saying the SEC is calling a much tighter zone than all the others, even tighter than MLB.
So, all that to say, I think it obviously depends which umps we get in the postseason and what zone they use.. but, if we get some bigger zones in the postseason, I think it could play to our benefit.
And, I do believe we were getting screwed last night. 100% the ump called one pitch a ball and the next a strike on Crews last strikeout. Probably too close to take.. but, Crews also has one of the best eyes I've ever seen. He's taken close pitches as balls all year.

There is zero reason for umpires to call strikes when the MLB broadcast uses Hawkeye to show the strikes.
This is done in tennis and Cricket. At the very least give the coaches Hawkeye reviews.
MLB and SEC can afford to have Hawkeye but I understand midweek games cannot.
Find it funny that the most advanced country in the world is behind in sports advancements

Great take. Never thought about it like that. Any glimmer of hope for our pitching staff is good at this point. It will be a new season after the SECT, which I hope we go 2 and 0. Hit the restart button.

The SEC may be able to afford Hawkeye, but I don't know if the stadiums lend themselves to the number camera locations that would be needed.
It's why the doppler based Trackman is used.
