What's needed...
AppleTV box
HDMI cable
Optical audio cable
RCA stereo cable
Radio Shack optical to RCA converter
Run the HDMI from the AppleTV to your receiver.
Run the optical audio cable out of AppleTV to converter
Run RCA stereo cables from converter to receiver
Picture will be near HD quality but audio isn't digital...only way I've found to make it work since all the AppleTV outputs are digital, but most receivers won't accept two digital inputs on the same setting (for me it's Game on my receiver). In other words, you can't have an HDMI and an optical on the same input on your receiver. If I'm wrong I hope someone corrects me.

I change the input from TV to CD on my receiver when I switch to Apple TV.

This configuration gives me a lot more flexibility in my powered Zones 2 and 3.

What other link could they possibly have other than justintv.com? Then go to sports and find the game. If there is another link please share.

LSUsports premium app streamed to AppleTV is the best and only way to enjoy the Tigers. Better than CST HD.
An alternative that's just as good/better is a computer with an HDMI port. The AppleTV is really only needed if you don't want to run a wire while you watch.

Your receiver doesn't accept audio over the HDMI?
ETA: What exactly are you trying to accomplish?

If it's saying media not supported you need to do the premium in app purhase. It's kind of dumb that you have to pay an extra fee to get geaux zone to work on your phone but it's just a few bucks.

Ok and where would I find that? Thanks

So let me get this straight...
there's a receiver that takes HDMI video but can't output the audio.
Assuming that the above is true, what ins/outs does the TV have? Lots of TVs have optical in/out. You can send the Apple TV's HDMI into the TV and then use the TV's optical out (if it has one) to go to the receiver or, even better, you can plug the ATV into the TV with HDMI and then the optical cable from the ATV into the receiver (so the AppleTV is plugged into two separate devices).
In short, stop using the receiver for the AppleTV if the TV has an HDMI port (even if that means you need to swap HDMI cables because the TV has one, single port). You'll cut down the number of wires (cheaper) and reduce the need for an adapter (cheaper) and get literally the same result.
ETA: On second thought, you seem to somewhat struggle with the concept of responding to the correct poster, and you may not have been addressing me at all. Sorry.
